Hamilton Considering Cal, LSU, Virginia

My honest opinion(without hearing Ham's side)...Ham's a product of culture change with college basketball. Players want to play first, then win second, but if you don't win, they want to transfer. I understand wanting to win...there just isn't a lot of toughness there, when it comes to being pushed to get better.

So, are you saying Ham's not tough? He played through a hernia but isn't tough? Is this the same as 'not seeing what the fuss is about' (note--not a direct quote) when referring to Boozer a couple years back?

On another note about players wanting to win. When a coach tells you to keep doing this or that, and we'll be better; then you end up not being better; don't you lose some faith in the guy coaching you? I think it is probably hard for coach to get players to buy into what he is teaching when there aren't any results (wins).

By the way, I do appreciate your posts, and my intent is not to rip you apart--I just have questions. I sincerely appreciate what you bring to this board, I'm just looking for more insight.

CIMD wants to play with the grown ups, he should be able to get called out just like anyone else would. Thing is, from seeing him post he would handle that comment a lot more calmly and maturely than you did.

Grown ups - that is funny - this board has very few.

Quite a few are simply keyboard tough guys. Their goal for the day is to get in a message board argument with someone they don't know and play tough guy. Their second goal is to start the *** Official Game Day Thread *** before someone else does and are crushed if some other dork beats them to it.

At this point, I think you would have to be honest and say that ISU is making a four year commitment to the recruit, and if the recruit isn't willing to do the same for ISU, then lets not even start this relationship.

I suppose you could argue that this will hurt recruiting, but how could recruiting possibly get any worse? The 2008 class sums it all up pretty well.

No way that will work...

I have reason to believe so...yes.

No, I'm sure it was very painful. I'll agree that probably takes a high level of tolerance.

Boozer had gotten a lot better...Just wish he didn't get hurt.

So what ARE you talking about? Using those words and then not backing it up with anything is pathetic...

The end of the sentence was the back up for the statement:

"when it comes to being pushed to get better."

ie. They have a hard time mentally with being coached. You see it at every where. (Enter helicopter parents)

EDIT: Sorry for the confusion TornadoMan. (a hard time mentally with being coached.) This is not directed at Hamilton or any of the members of the ISU MBB team. Young athletes can have a hard time being coached.

At this point how can anyone continuie to blame the players for leaving? It is an obvious problem with the coaching staff. If it was just a few player here and there then maybe it could be the players but with THIS many dfections. You HAVE to blame the coaching staff. So calling out the players might not be the way to go. We should be calling out the ENTIRE coaching staff.

That's a big charge to make without any substantiation, sorry.
I witnessed several practices from the 2008-09 season, and Ham was always at the top of the list in terms of sheer hustle, and putting into practice (drills, run-throughs, etc.) his coaches' instructions. From what I've heard from this past season, Ham has been the same way.
Hamilton does not have a "a hard time mentally with being coached." What BS.

If you say so...Maybe you can help me.

Why would Ham maintain it had nothing to do with the coaching staff, quote saying homesick, but have a list of schools not close to home?

Maybe because it is in VERY poor taste to rip into the coaching staff. Most people realize that. Also it would just create bigger waves if he were to leave saying that the coaches suck and he hates them and he hates being at ISU. All that would accomplish is making him look like an *** and create even more waves for the school and the program.

My comment was not directed at Hamilton because I have no inside information and frankly don't give a ****. I was only stating what KG had said in direct relation to toughness for the person I quoted. That being said kids do have "a hard time mentally with being coached."

Again, not directed at any of our players because I don't have inside information or access to practices.

Fair enough...So Ham would lie?...doesn't sound like Ham I've met.

You have a lot of nerve to call out Ham for not being "tough." Ham was the one of the few who were dedicated to the off-season lifting program last year, when others were often no-shows, or lifted half-assed. Ask coach Moser who's "tough."
Good god.
This would explain a lot as far as lack of team improvement.

If his choice is between lying and throwing his old school and coaches under the bus, then lying seems plausible. It seems that the reason he gave - homesickness - was not entirely accurate.
