Thats what the losers say.

I look at this way:

Best case scenario--We comes in, recruits well, keeps some of our current players, has us dancing in the next year or two.

Worst case scenario-- He comes in and parties with some co-eds, continues being an alcoholic, ect. You people act like that would set our program back 10 years or something, geez.

Exactly, assuming that JP is not an idiot and learned from the last MBB contract he gave somebody, I think he would make sure that ISU can get out with minimal losses if the experiment doesn't pan out. I don't see it setting us back anymore than bringing in a mid-major coach that turns out to be GMac 2.0 would.

Like I said... If BG comes in and is a total train wreck it still won't really hurt us. The program is currently at death's door anyway so what do we have to worry about?

I think we've got the "Honor" pretty well covered, the problem is that "Victory" isn't even on the horizon. Honor is great but it don't pay the bills. Somebody needs to clue me in as to why it can't be "Honor WITH Victory"

I think BG is the best basketball coach out there. I do not like what he has done in the past but I would like to think he has had his wake up call. I would say it would be a good time to take a chance. We have nowhere to go but up. I would just hope JP structures the contracted very incentive happy and based on not only performance on the floor but maybe even more off the floor. I think BG may have had enough of the "Big Time" school stuff and this may be a place he comes to love. I like the BG hire as long as there are large consequences for him acting out. I am talking about if there is one little thing he is gone. I want to win and I want to be a respectable program. I would like to see BG get a chance to redeem himself here at ISU.

Rhoads has the whole "honor" part down, we're covered. We can afford a little "dishonor" in one of our programs.

Exactly. Think of the possibilities. BG turns himself around personally, comes to ISU who gives him a second chance, and then he turns around an ISU program that is absolutely on it's death bed.... Can you imagine the coverage the ISU program would get not only locally but on a national level? It would be freaking huge and it would be talked about non-stop. JP would look like an absolute genius and ISU would be painted in about the most positive light possible for taking a chance on a guy who is rebuilding not just his career but his life. If he fails it will be a short lived story that will be forgotten in a few weeks. I say we go and get him RIGHT NOW!!!

Do you guys realize how excited some of us are just thinking about the prospect of Billy Gillespie coming here? That's called renewed optimism....of course, we have no idea if MCD is getting canned or not, but you know.

This. We know nothing but even the thought of getting a new coach and in particular BG has some people showing the first excitement that they have shown for Men's basketball in years.

Yes, exactly it gives us a glimmer of hope.

I think you guys should start a petition to take down that sign, since you obviously don't believe it should apply.

I think you underestimate the ability of our AD and President to decide if BG is rehabilitated and a liability to dishonor the university. He has done nothing to dishonor Iowa State University...so I don't understand why some are so up-in-arms about the potential of hiring. If he does get hired, and does something to shed the University in bad light, then that is the fault of those who decided to hire him. Until then, I'll let them make a judgment call.

Then the same goes for retaining GMac.

That's fine, if in their judgment Coach Mac is headed in the right direction, then bring him back for another year...but also know that their margin for error is near zero and any amount of failure is on them, and the fans will vote with their feet and their wallets.
