A little Marcus Paige info

Demarcus was not moderately recruited....he would have had offers from every major conference in the country, but his coach managed to keep them off of him since he was a silent verbal to us.

I have never heard that we need to ignore the lack of offers for our main recruit, because he was "committed" to us, so no other teams recruited him. Wow:no: that never happens on here.

They will "poach" a player that is on the team, but they won't go after recruits who didn't commit until late.

Since Eick was Stephon Curry, is this kid another John Wall then?

Probably better. Probably makes Magic Johnson look like a 4th grader.

If recruiting was going well, my guess is that neither Phillips or Clyburn would have been recruited. McDermott has been forced into the JUCO route by either missing on his primary targets (HB for example) or due to transfer of guys that weren't good enough (or tough enough) to cut it (Eikmeier, for example).

CAN YOU READ THE POST? I NEVER SAID HE WAS STEPHEN CURRY, I SAID HE PLAYED A SIMILAR STYLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As far as the other teams, they tried to poach him, but MCC's coach turned them away.

Dude, Phillips committed in July, which usually indicates that that player was plan A.

 H)e plays nothing like Stephen Curry.

I know that and you know that. The problem is that he was a reach at this level. So to deflect attention from the real problems (recruiting too many players that can't play at this level), we have people place all of this hype. Stephon Curry was at the height of his powers after Davidson's run to the Elite 8, so he was a great guy to compare Eick to, and have people believe that he was a Big 12 player.

The fact that he was sick for a large part of the season, yet Mac still ran him off after the season really discredits your evaluation.

Look at what he has said in this thread about Phillips and Cook. Ignore where they are ranked, the people that make their living evaluating players don't know what they are talking about. And, in the case of Phillips, pay no attention to his lack of offers, he is great (and we all hope he is).

BTW, you know when you say that he was a "silent" verbal since the Summer, you are telling people that Greg is going to run somebody else off, right?

I don't care if he committed in January. Defend the recruiting until you are blue in the face...I have McDermott's four year record to support my argument(s). To this point in time, it has been a complete failure. There is no arguing the record.....something like 0-30 against ranked opponents, losses at home to the likes of South Dakota State, a conference season where the ONLY wins are Nebraska (2) and Colorado. Pick one or the other of these two options.....either McDermott's recruiting has been absolutely terrible or he can't coach worth a darn. I think he can Coach, he has proven that. So, the only other explanation in my opinion is he hasn't shown an ability to recruit.

anyone seen the 6th grade kid that plays for the Nevada AAU team. Left handed kid that people have said "the best 12 year old in the nation". Hmmmm..... who in the world is out rating 12 year old kids?

Tim use to do that....

Kody Ingle led the Southeast Polk Varsity team to the 4a state championship game where they unfortunately lost to in a pretty close game. Kody Ingle was the leading scorer in every game he played in his senior year except when they played Ames (SEP played Ames twice, Once in the regular season and for the state title.)

Please get your facts straight.

1) He is a SOPHOMORE.
2) He can PLAY.

I was impressed with Paige as a FR a year ago in the state championship game vs Ames. He played point and led the Linn-Mar attack. His sister will play at Wisconsin next year and Bo Ryan is on him. He had pretty good luck with his last player from Linn-Mar in Bohannon. I spoke to his sister at a VB tournament in Waterloo last fall. I mentioned Iowa State and her brother. She told me that weekend he and his parents were on an unofficial visit to Tubbyland and the Gophers.

I have heard from the grapevine at LM and they are impressed with Coach Hoiberg, it only took him two days to call and express his interest in Marcus while it took McAffery nearly two weeks.
