Final drive vs KU

Burnham tried anything and everything to get pressure on Reesing but nothing worked.

Know why? Because our d line isn't good. you know that...

Herman's job was to get the Offense in the endzone at all cost. It didn't matter how long or short the drive was. If we would have ran the ball some fans on here would have complained "why aren't we passing?!"

Its obviously not obvious to some of these people who say we would have left too much time left on the clock. Take the points when you can.

Ok, would you take the points at 1:30 left or :30 left? 1:30 left gives KU enough time to score and win the game. :30 is not enough and ISU wins. That's the point.

Read the line I quoted. It's obvious anyone would take points with time left than none at all. Seriously...c'mon...

For the most part your OC called an outstanding game. Hard to get down on him when a pass fell only a few feet short at the end.

Being as we didn't get any points I'd take it at 1:30. How do you know 30 sec is not enough for KU's offense? What if they ran back the ensuing kickoff? or even to the 50 then had a 50 yd bomb to Briscoe?.....play that game all day.

And i'm sure Schwartz never scored this game, as someone stated earlier.

Thanks for the sincere compliment. I just wish that last pass had a bit more air under it.

You really can't question play calling that much when we were in position to win the game. If the last series had been 4 incomplete passes, then you would have a better argument.

My biggest beef was going to the endzone with 1:30 left. Why would you WANT to score and give KU 1:30 to operate? I agree run the ball, get inside the 10 with less than :30 and see what happens.

It looks to me like ISUonthemove (and a couple of others in this thread) would have traded 6 points scored at 1:30 for no points scored and the ball in scoring position at 0:30. Do you feel the same way?

Really...

People are complaining that the points we didn't score could've been potentially scored 1:00 or so too early???

Talk about a case where ISU fans will ***** about anything.... phantom points scored too soon.

I've officially seen it all.

Read my post, mmmk?

My biggest point was not getting ARob the ball but once. Period.

The nice-to-have would be running time off the clock. That would have been a side effect of running the ball though - two birds, one stone.

Reading/comprehension are not strong suits here.

If you're so knowledgable about play calling how come you aren't a D1 Offensive Cooridnator somewhere 22?

I am sick of this wouldva shouldva couldva crap that is dominating these boards today. Seriously folks, MOVE ON! We are 3-3 and have shown some big strides from where we were at this time last season so can't we just accept it and move on? The team moved on from the KSU game judging by the performance against KU, it's time we as fans do the same and move on after each win and loss. You can't change the result, you can only look to improve on what you did wrong.

Would you be begging people to MOVE ON if we won last weekend and were all gushing? I'm guessing no.

Onthemove, you hit the nail on the head. The deep ball on first down with 1:30 to go was the killer. Too much time left, not our most succesful type of play.

I feel that way. Odds were about 90% that KU could get into field goal range in 90 seconds.

I see it being no different than a basketball team playing for the last shot.

But regardless, what happened, happened, and it's quite possible no one else was really open. And unless we can find out what Herman was thinking, it's nothing more than speculation anyway. (but something to talk about between saturdays)

This game was the kind of game I imagined we would be playing this year - our defense struggling but our offense keeping us in the games until the end. It was good to see.

I didn't think about it until you made the point, but I agree completely. Unless Robinson was hurt and the Coaching staff was using him as a decoy, he definitely should have seen the ball more. Screen play, or even spread him out wide and hopefully get a match up with safety/LB. Would be a good question for Herman.

What would be the odds of ISU scoring from inside the 10 with 0:30 left? You need those points first...

Agree completely. There are plenty who believe that it becomes much more difficult to score on a shorter field, than a little longer one.

ISU really isn't near good enough to dictate how we score points and in what exact manner we do so. Run the plays you think work best, get the points you can, and let the chips fall as they may.

I can see an arguement in ARob seeing the ball more in that last series. Or perhaps he tweaked something in his last run? Perhaps the D changed so that Herman thought he wouldn't be as effective. Who knows?

IIRC, ARob was on the field all the way through the last play. Only plays he missed were our final scoring drive, the few plays after he picked up the 4th down and until we scored.
