YouTube - take shelter from the storm, Iowa State game

^^^^expect 100% chance of Thunder on sept 3rd, and your police will be going through tailgate blaring this over the loudspeaker again! ^^^^

I hope you realize that after that storm passed we proceeded to pound Colorado

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ht2tZTSl6A]YouTube - Iowa State vs Colorado 2005 Part 2[/ame]

One of the best nights I've ever spent watching college football

Looks like there will be alot of people heading to Ames from NDSU.

Last year at UNI there was 3000+ so expect that, and hopefully 5000. that would make me personally happy.

If you guys were a better team (2-10) I bet alot more Twin Citie NDSU alum's woulda made the trip.

have a good weekend.
If NDSU were a better team, they might have a chance of only losing by 2 TDs instead of 3 or 4...

My season tickets are in BB. I really hope that you present yourself in respectful manner. I don't want to have you escorted out of The Jack.

You need to quit acting like NDSU is some division I powerhouse, you are barely even D1 and you have no chance of winning that game, yeah bring your 3-5k fans it wont be any match to the 50k cyclone fans in that stadium hope you'll have a goodtime though tailgating is alot fun and probably alot better then anything up in north dakota

I hate to feed the troll but I'm pretty concerned about NDSU. I still have nightmares about Chizik's first game against Kent State that we had no business losing.

Brother, all I can say is, look at the difference in the coaching staff. Look at the players and how they are now a year deeper in the college game. You should be as afraid of NDSU as you are of your shadow.

I assume you're not afraid of your shadow.

isu:49 NDSU:10 Offense looks good defense looks improved momentum carries into week 2............

It was pretty entertaining reading the posts on this thread. It seems like many of you are putting your eggs in the "We pounded a team that beat NDSU last year" basket ergo we should pound you worse. Wow. Nice logic.

Just so some of the facts don't get lost in the rhetoric, here are the defensive stats for NDSU last year in their first year in the Missouri Valley Football Conference (arguably one of the toughest in FCS):

No. 1 in Pass Defense at 116.8 yds per game.
No. 1 in Total Defense at 254 yds per game.
No. 1 in Pass Defense Efficiency at a 113.3 efficiency rating.
No. 2 in Scoring Defense at 19.2 points per game (behind UNI at 17.7).
No. 5 in Rushing Defense at 137.2 yds per game.

So it's one thing to blab on about how we should be able to hold our own against your far superior athletes who are so much bigger and athletic than we are and another to back up our projections with the facts. You pounded SDSU last year because they were terrible defensively. We won't be. Our defense is well coached and hungry. They won't disappoint. This game will be closer than you guys think.

We don't care, isu wins by at least three touchdowns.

If you think Iowa State won't shatter all of these, NDSU should join the Big 12 because they can obviously compete in it.

And that defense was so awesome they gave up what, 25 to SDSU? Iowa State gave up 3 to SDSU with our starters on the field. 3. This doesn't even account for the 34 Iowa State's starters put on the board against SDSU's defense who NDSU only managed 24? against. We SMOKED them. Annihilated. Blew out. Crushed. This was with a new set of QBs, just running the ball, and little contributions from our now starting WRs.

gimme a break. its going to be NDSU 28 ISU 24. put it on the BOARRRRD!!!

Step 1. Add those point totals
Step 2. Put that figure on ISU's side of the scoreboard
Step 3. Put a big 0 on NDSU's side

There you have it.

The only problem with this is that your awesome team finished 6-5 last year? Please explain how "good" they are when they go 6-5 against FCS teams.

I wasn't worried about this game until you posted that. I've seen my shadow, and it's a baaaaaaad man.

We all have our bad games. Your record last year is sure proof of that. I'm not suggesting that we hold you guys to these numbers only that before you just assume that the team is a bunch of hicks from a state no one knows is part of the U.S. and that can't find it's way out of the bathroom with the light on, just know that we will come to play. Our offense will be what let's us down, not our defense. But there is absolutely no way you guys put 40 plus points up on us. 28-7 or 21-0.

Terrible offense that's how. Defense kept us in every game, offense gave it away. Sad but true. A disappointment to be sure that we all hope gets fixed this year.

We had a porous defense last year. A halfway decent offense. I think our offense will be much better. And I look for improvement on defense as well, just because of a change in defensive scheme.

If NDSU has that bad of an offense they will stop themselves. Our defense won't matter. But even though their defense might be pretty decent, I think we will definitely score a lot of points. I look for ISU to win by at least two TD's. Maybe a lot more.

Q. What is more illogical than basing one's predictions solely on head-to-head competition?
A. Basing one's prediction on the defensive stats (facts?) from a FCS conference.

But we've never played you so you can't use head to head competition as your barometer. That's not how the head to head comparison works. Again, just because you beat a team that beat us doesn't mean ****. But if that's what you think gets you there, more power to you. I assure you, we will be a very different team than the SDSU team you faced last year. At least defensively. We may not score many points against you, but you will not put up 40+ points on NDSU just because you put up 40 something on SDSU. It doesn't correlate.
