North Dakota St. Game?

NDSU's new D-coordinator was the D-coordinator at Wyoming the past several years. Before that he was the D-coordinator at Montana (won a national IAA championship there) and before that was the DC at Northern Colorado and won back to back National Championships there. They have been working on this game since spring ball, so if they have any bullets to fire, they will be prepared.
Mike Breske is a graduate of SDSU, how about that .....?

This NDSU board makes the Hawks look realistic. One poster: "ISU is the definition of door mat. They have only won a handful of conference games this decade". Hmm... Somehow we made it to 5 bowls in the past decade, and we were w/in a play of the division title twice. We did that while winning a "handful" of games. ******* idiots. I now hope we just start chucking the ball, and hang 50+ on these dip *****.

Fixed that for ya...

Not to pick a fight, but how is this an inaccurate statement? Do you really expect an NDSU fan to know about ISU's near misses in 2004/5, or the bowl games? They've never had any reason to know anything about Iowa State until now.

Well, if they're going to comment so flippantly about the whole decade, than they should be knowledgeable about our record over the past decade. We've won more than a handful over the past decade, and half of those years we landed in a bowl. If you're going to talk ****, at least know what you're talking about (that was directed at NDSU, not you).

You do realize that "this decade" includes 2000 to the present, not 2005 to the present?

cmon guys, a MAJORITY of us NDSU fans are from Minnesota and Twin Cities, so there is a natural hate for IOWA Hawkeye's.

So there should be no animosity towards NDSU from ISU.

and for god's sake, don't listen to some dork from So. Dakota St. all they have is a girls bball team.

I just finished reading the thread on the NDSU forum.

All I can do is shake my head. Do they really believe that they're going to hold our offense to just 17 or 21 points?

Eerily reminiscent of the SDSU forums before last year's opener.

Again, Never compare NDSU to So. Dakota. St. EVER. our programs are like comparing Iowa State to Waldorf.

Im banking on this to shut down your passing game:

6 Bowman, Richard CB 5-8 172 Sr. Houston, Texas (North Shore HS) 32 Colvin, Derrius CB 5-9 170 Jr. South Holland, Ill. (Thornwood HS) 12 Mitchell, Courtney CB 5-8 176 Sr. Houston, Texas (Booker T. Washington HS) 13 Banks, Freddie DB 5-8 175 Jr. Harvey, Ill. (Mercyhurst College, Pa.) (Thornwood HS)

36 Lemon, Cyrus SS 5-10 195 Jr. Minneapolis, Minn. (DeLaSalle HS)
oh wow. this guy is a hoot. lakesbison.. not to metion that ISU's WR's are much better athletes than your DB's, but they are WAYYYYY bigger. we can go about 8 deep at WR and keep the same caliber of talent and really good size.

Darius Darks 6'1" 175 So.
Sedrick Johnson 6'4" 199 So.
Marquis Hamilton 6'4" 228 Sr.
Darius "Money" Reynolds 6'3" 190 Jr.
Houston Jones 6'1" 193 Sr.
Lonzie Range 6'3" 183 Fr.
Joshua Bellamy 6'1" 200 Jr.
Jason Carlson 6'0" 205 Jr.
Joel Zitek 6'2" 199 Sr.
Donnie Jennert 6'6" 192 Fr.

thats our first 10 WR's all going at least 6 feet tall. 2" taller than your biggest DB.

compare our OL to your DL

this is the biggest possible DL you could put out there according to gobison.com

59 Rossi, Anthony DT 5-11 283 Sr. Sioux City, Iowa (Morehead State) (Rochelle Township, Ill.) 94 Taufete'e, Yuen DT 6-0 295 Sr. Pago, Pago, American Samoa (Butte-Glenn CC) (Nu'uuli Poly Tech HS)
90 Johnson, Garrett DE 6-4 250 So. Chaska, Minn. (Chaska HS) 91 Reid Jr., Greg DE 6-1 263 RFr. Milwaukee, Wis. (Rufus King HS)

ISU's starting OL goes like this

LT: Scott Haughton 6'4" 335 So.
LG: Reggie Stephens 6'4" 338 Sr.
C: Alex Alvarez 6'2" 294 Jr.
RG: Kelechi Osemele 6'5" 338 So.
RT: Ben Lamaak 6'5" 320 Jr.

you know that means ISU's OL only out weighs your DL by 52lbs on average!

if you think you have any chance at slowing ISU down they you are sadly mistake. we have one of the better QB's in the Big XII, we have a 3 headed monster at RB, one of the deepest WR corps in the Big XII, a massive yet athletic offensive line and couple that with an exceptional secondary on defense, expect to see NDSU get pushed all over the field and ISU to absolutely manhandle them. my prediction, ISU wins 63-10

LakesBison: I am very familiar with football at ISU, SDSU, and NDSU. This is an analogy that NDSU fans should be able to understand. Playing ISU will be like playing Cal Poly, only ISU's players are 2 - 4 inches taller, 15 - 40 pounds heavier, and a step faster (!).

If we don't win this game by 20-30 points, it's a disappointment.

I can live with NDSU scoring a couple of meaningless touchdowns against ISU's fourth stringers at the end of the game to cut the lead to 21 points.

But if ISU can't hang 48 or more points on these guys and hold them to 14 points, then ISU is in for a long season.

Spot on. A win by anything less than 3 TDs and we may be lucky to get another W the rest of the year, and I don't think anybody is picking us to go 1-11 this season.

I hope all you guy are knocking on wood when you make bold predictions about scores. I want us to win as bad as the next guy......but we have a new offense, all new coaches, and really not a whole lot to base our high expectations off of.

I've seen ISU lose to teams that I didn't think it was possible to lose to and I've seen them beat teams I didn't think they had a chance in.

I think they will win rather easily...but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

I understand your point. But this game, coming as it is just before Iowa, is different than looking at Herman's body of work, IMO. We will do what we need to to beat NDSU, but the only thing we really have going into the Iowa game is the advantage of surprise. I've got to believe we will try to NOT run a few things and save them for Iowa, if we can. As crappy as we have been over the last few years, we can take nothing for granted. And, we should approach each opponent with outward humility and inward intensity and determination. We have a hell of a lot to prove before we can be talking about winning easily or blowing them out in any match up.
