You 100% can teach speed. You 100% can teach agility.

The scenario here is unlimited resources. I added the part about having a young kid that is determined and has the mindset. In that scenario you can 100% get that kid to the pros in soccer from a pretty average baseline.

Again not an all time great but a guy that could make our USMNT, for sure
No you cant. You can improve it within reason. Ask any parent who has spent thousands training their kids who cant even play on their hs varsity team. Its genetic. Or at least the ability to be "world class" at it. JFC dont you work in the medical field? You can teach a normal person to be an Olympic sprinter? What?

A sport that soley relies on speed. Soccer doesn’t it’s mostly skill. That’s the main difference for the millionth time
To be elite you have to have all that. Why is it different than basketball? JFC at the very least we are talking about baseline abilities that are far better than the the average human. Hence, it takes the total package. In the 90th percentile of attributes tied to athleticism.

Holy crap I’m talking soccer. My god. Basketball you need height it’s mandatory. In soccer skill and technique is manditory,

You 100% don’t have to have all that in soccer. Big Rom just scored a goal on this USMNT and gets winded going up a long flight of stairs.

I wasn't talking anything about the height of basketball players. You dont think speed and athleticism define soccer? Imagine a basketball game played by all guards( or a game without the 7-0 slugs). Tbh thats is kind of what soccer is except they use their feet. JFC dude you are not this dense.

I just don’t believe this. I’ve seen it with my own eyes with kids doing speed and agility training programs.
Agree to disagree with unlimited resources. You’re talking about training a kid once or twice a week part of the year. I’m talking about full time with recovery coaches peak nutrition etc. major difference

You don’t need elite speed to be a pro soccer player I just gave you an example. I don’t know why you keep brining up basketball here

I’m talking 2-3 times per week 52 weeks per year.

No.

You dont need world class sprinter speed but you need excellent speed. I mean at least quick enough to get by defenders. You need to be in the 90th percentile of all humans when it comes to speed. You just do. You dont necessarily have to run a 4.4 to be a great reciever but you arent running less than a 4.6 which makes you faster than 97% of humans on the planet. Enough with your nonsense. Youre brighter than this.

I didn’t know you were a world class coach but I’ll fully respect the fact that you’re damn good at your job.

Were those kids teens or older? Did those kids have perfect nutrition, recovery access, access to the other plethora of coaches where this was their only activity?

That 40 number is laughable z Big rom can’t run below a 5, James Milner was slow and played till he was 40+. VVD is below that time.

There a tons of pros who don’t come close to that criteria

If you have that level of training by default you are going to be in the top 97% of your number that I assume is pretty accurate if not underselling

I was talking about NFL wide receivers more specifically. But I can assure you the people you mentioned are in the 10th percentile of fast among humans.

Yeah everyone that barely works out is gonna be that high. You can’t compare athletes to the general population that’s just kinda foolish. Anyone that has unlimited resources to train is already going to be in that percentage by default as “among humans” as you mention that isn’t hard to be there

Lukaku doesn’t have elite speed? Try again

I knew almost nobody who even worked hard who fell into that category. Especially when it came to multiple things. I knew a few guys who had that speed maybe but they didnt have it when it came to other areas. It takes being in that percentile multiple areas to play world class soccer.

These European countries are identifying the best-of-the-best at an extremely early age and are spending 15 years training them professionally. That just isn't happening here. Sure, we have tons of kids playing club soccer. But how many of our most elite athletes are taking it up full time and receiving the type of training the Europeans are?

I think our reality is we have to just keep hoping European raised kids with ties to America continue to want to play for our national team. Because developing talent herein the US is just way too far behind. We've wound up with a few mid-level European trained players, and backfilling with average MLS guys. That just isn't going to work.
Why aren’t we Hogswartsing our children when they’re young and we’ve identified them as a possible soccer phenom? Ship them over to England and put them in a soccer academy. They’d love the sorting hat, I guarantee it.
