30 years to the day Trent Condon signed off KXNO from when Marty and Miller signed on at The Jock. At one time there were 3 sports talk stations. Remember who all had shows- Marty, Miller, Murph, Andy, Cotlar, Condon, Chris, Ross, Travis, Heather, Perrault, Jimmy B, Andy Garmin, Deace, Miller, Sean, Lucas I'm sure I missed a few.

The hosts were a mixture of Hawk fans and Cyclone fans and quite a few neutral. I think ISU benefitted greatly in exposure to Des Moines casual sports fans as most shows gave equal time and guests to Hawks and Clones

Who were your favorite hosts and shows and which ones did you refuse to listen to?

I always had KXNO on as background noise while driving into work, going to lunch, etc. Murph & Andy were the only ones I'd tune into on longer trips. Some of the other stuff was entertaining at times, and I did try to tune in for Cyclone related interviews.

This morning, some national guys were debating the dumbest sports related question I have ever heard, seriously:

Would it be helpful to Brendan Sorsby's career to do a year in JUCO?

That is exactly what Dekkers did in the same situation, QB disqualified for gambling, has some NFL ambitions, played a year at Iowa Western.

I used to like local sports talk radio, but podcasts took over. Too many commercials on live radio made for a difficult listen. It got to the point that there were more commercials than actual sports talk.

Same and I just didn't think is was very good anyway. Now that these shows are gone, I've already seen comments that are remembering them as being way better than they actually were.

Yeah, the commercials were too much for me, wayyyy too often for wayyy too long each break.

It might not have been great but it was local. Outside of DP National shows are below average.

I just never felt there was enough local stuff to talk about that warranted all these shows. If they could have consolidated down to a good 2-hour morning show and a 2-hour afternoon show, it would have been better.

I would say Matt Perrault was most hated. Deace could troll Hok fans. He supported ISU since Iowa was a rival of Michigan. He even published a magazine called Cyclone Illustrated
