ISU Rugby is back at it again: AGAIN. Sevens Team now playing in Nat'l Tourney in Iowa City

At this point what do we call the Iowa State curse of not being able to win a natty in any sport? The Manhattan Project curse?

No idea what i just watched but I've seen that ending before as a Cyclone fan...
Yep, I know nothing about rugby, but got the gist that ISU was desperate, drove down within yards of the goal and then something happened that ended the game before we could push it in.
Lost 19-13. I was able to pick up crossing the goal is worth 5 points and the extra try kick is worth 2 points, so if we had crossed the goal, good chance ISU wins 20-19. Clock had reached zero but play continued. I don't know how that works, but I think play continues until the team with the ball is stopped or penalty.

This is correct. Once time expires, the game continues until the ball is out of play or turned over. The last play was a knock on called on ISU which means they hit the ball forward instead of lateral or backwards. If ISU had punched it in for the try, they would’ve needed the conversion to win. If it goes it they would’ve won 20-19, missed and it would’ve been 18-19. The conversion spot depends on where the try is made so with the wind being as strong as it was it might’ve still been a tough one.

Damn good club team for years - let’s get over the hump.

Those dudes are much younger than I am and can probably handle this better than I can but all I could think about while watching was how they were beating the crap out of each other for 2 hours and were then going to sit for 7+ hours riding back to Ames from Indy...

Stumbled upon this in the middle of the night. Now it is the Sevens turn. They are playing in National Tourney in Iowa City Saturday and Sunday. Available to watch on YouTube or just head over in person.

ISU lost 24-35.
ISU came back and won their next 2 pool games to go 2-1 in pool play. Oregon crushed the next 2 to win the pool play at 3-0. Iowa squeaked by first two games, then crushed Minny to go 3-0 in their pool play.

So we play Oregon for the championship at 3:42 PM according to the schedule?

Yep, and led them 21-19 with a couple of minutes left. Oregon has ball deep in their own territory and a guy finds a seam, rips off to midfield, pitches back to a teammate who takes it the rest of the way and Iowa State loses, 21-26. 2nd place . . . . . again.
