The second and third place teams of the conference should not be playing each other in the first round. And the winner gets the first place team (assuming the first place team advances)

The conference finals would be the easy series

Hockey gets the best crowd pops of any sport IMO. One second it looks like a harmless play and the next second the puck is in the back of the net. There's really nothing better than Game 7 OT in the NHL playoffs. Sudden euphoria or heartbreak
