Comparing Ashley and Audi is comparing apples and bowling balls in terms of popularity. Ashley wasn’t brought to the WNBA draft a year before entering the draft just to watch. Ashley wasn’t ever the face of WBB.
As for what what forfeiting a legacy, I don’t know all that was lost, but here’s examples of what was given up:
1 - She could’ve easily hosted a camp/multiple camps and plastered her name all over it à la the Fred Hoiberg camps from 25 years ago and put whatever price she wanted on them. Can she still do this 5 years from now, sure, but I’m not going to encourage my daughter to go to an OSU grads camp like I would if it were, say, Niangs camp.
2 - Likely start up any business (used cars, a gym, restaurant) and just having her name affiliated, make easy money
3 - Red carpet roll out for any ISU event she wants to attend. I’m guessing she would’ve received a similar reaction to Niang at the Combs concert last Saturday.
I just think she took a lump sum over annuity. And at first, I thought it was probably the smart move. From what I’m gathering, the lump sum is not what was anticipated.
