***WBB: 2026 Recruiting Thread***

Our team will punch them in the kneecaps! Better call them the ‘Blister Sisters’ for all the running they will do after missed shots. This is ludicrous!

I'm not saying money isn't a factor, but Oklahoma State also has a young and engaging coach and, from the few gams I saw, an exciting style of basketball. I imagine that cant hurt.

Agree and we have an old style coach so why are 9 of their players leaving their program?
Based on who they are bringing in and retaining, some of those leaving were probably told to move on. The loss of Achol Akot was big though.

We're prioritizing 6'1 centers when the current TCU roster features:
2 players at 6'2
1 player at 6'3 (Lara Somfai)
1 player at 6'4 (Clara Bielefeld)
3 players at 6'7 (Emily Hunter, Kennedy Basham & Clara Silva) and
1 player at 6'8 (Sarah Portlock)

I hope she has the gift of mad hops!
And he has brought in 3 smaller guards from the portal so some/many of these players will not see much floor time. We are not done with the portal yet so I will just wait to see what we end up with before I trash the players and coaches we will have.

Kennedy Basham graduated, so she is gone.

Emily Hunter is in the portal, so we won't see her at TCU next year

Sarah Portlock was a redshirt last year, so she is either a project or Mark Campbell just didn't need her this year.

Clara Bielefeld averaged 2 points a game last year and a career high of 9 points while averaging 13 minutes in 30 games.

Clara Silva only averaged 9 a game, and she was their starting post.

So, despite their size, they relied on a power forward and their point guard.

You really should move to Ft Worth and become a TCU donor and fan. You sure love what the do and the coach there.

Several of those trees are projects

I think a lot of the angst comes from adding that a player like Gift gives the impression that we are already scraping the bottom of the barrel for players. That may not be true in reality, but the optics seem off. I'm sure she's a great lady, but she appears to be a deep bench player.
Only a "bottom of the barrel" person/poster would characterize a young person's talent in that manner. Did you play D1 hoops at an elite level?

CBF needs 10 players. So he needs a starting center, he needs an Alisa Williams and he needs a Lilly Taulelei. Gift Ezekiel isn't the next Audi Crooks, but maybe that a good thing based on how much some fans have derided her ability since Audi entered the portal. But Gift could very well be the next Alisa Williams. SEC WBB programs recruit at a pretty high level, so Gift was viewed as a pretty talented player coming to the US from Nigeria.

Cyclone fans should be excited a young women has chosen Iowa State University to pursue her academic and basketball dreams. Hope Gift creates lifelong memories of her time in Ames.

The ongoing negativeness by a vocal group of supposedly Cyclone fans isn't going to accomplish anything positive regarding next year's team.

Gift was grabbed quickly as probably a defensive need filler.

Her bio states: "During her 31 appearances in Gainesville, Ezekiel demonstrated a knack for interior defense, posting a Defensive Box Plus/Minus of 1.1. This defensive reliability will be essential for a Cyclone squad that is essentially starting from scratch."
Need some defensive stoppers to keep the games low scoring since we won't be scoring more than 30 ppg with our current roster!

Damn I guess we shouldn't discuss players unless we are going to be sunshine and rainbows about it. Did you even look at her stats or read Florida's bio on her?

Vs power 4 opponents; 8.5 mins/g, 1.65 pts/g, 1.8 Reb/g, 0.1 assists/g, 0.2 Stl/g, 0.2 blk/g, and 0.8 TO/game. Those are not good; she is already a senior so great improvement isn't likely. All of this on a 18-15 Florida team.

As a comparison Vs power 4 opponents; Alisa was 11 mins/g, 3.6 pts/g, 3.0 reb/g, 0.64 assists/g, 0.5 stl/g, 0.3 blk/g, and 0.7 TO/g.

Edit: Another comparison Isnell Natabou; 10 min/g, 3.5 pts/g, 2.68 reb/g, 0.36 assists/g, 0 stl/g, 0.24 blk/g, and 0.8 TO/g,

I didn’t trash Gift Ezekiel or anybody else - I’m pro-player, just pointing out you can’t teach “tall” and IMHO, we need to acquire some height.

One of my favorite Cyclones ever was Kenny Pratt, and I was an undersized post player battling the giants back in my day. I have appreciation for those who succeed via guile and anticipation!

Some fans move along quicker in their grieving...for me I am passing acceptance and looking forward.

I have no insider knowledge, but Freya and EP both just followed Ilse de Vries who’s on the OP list.

Sophomore averaged 13pts/5rbs/2blks a game at Miami (OH). Would be a great get- looks to be some decent competition but Freya’s Euro relationship might have some pull as she’s from the Netherlands.
When the 2025 portal opened, fans were clamoring for a Power Forward to provide relief for Audi and Addy. Several media types listed Laura Ziegler as the top PF in the portal. Ziegler is from Denmark, as is Freya - sadly Ziegler went to Louisville! Hopefully our young Dane wields more influence this time around! Just kidding about Freya, but de Vries would be a nice get…

There are still many players yet to be taken. Quick look found many 6'3" or taller and 10 are in our area. Most are not big scorers and without going to each school site not sure number of minutes played. Issue 1. what is their major and does it work at ISU 2. are they players who really want to play at this level with our crowd.
