If Mitchell wants to stay on as a practice squad guy and try to earn a spot in the rotation, that's a win for us. And maybe him too, depending on what he wants.
Absolutely, love the kid, but if the choice comes down to a roster spot for Mitchell vs Milan or Singleton, I know what’s going to happen.

I like @acoustimac analogy of the portal. Top players are listed/shopped from Saks Fifth Ave, while many other players have good value and perform perfectly fine at a lower price as do products from Target. The rich schools shop from Saks, Iowa State level schools shop at Target, keeping an eye for good value.

But this is what scouts are going to tell him to work on if he wants a shot at the first round.

He needs strength to be a better defender, and work on an even quicker release. Milan projects as a corner shooter, not a driving wing. If he can get better at the defense part of 3–and-D and can get shots over bigger more athletic defenders he’s got a long career in front of him. And I wouldn’t be stunned if a team or two thinks he’s already close enough.

In essentially every double team, our players are making contact with the ball handler often pushing them. I've been surprised it isn't being called, though we're not the only ones doing it.
The reason why it works they do a good job of not being their hands down. So even if they make contact, it looks like really clean defense.

I'd love to get a video of clips of Milan coming off screens. I bet it was a least double figures per game you could get an image of Milan shoulder to shoulder with the screener and a defenders arem wedged between them. That is not legal guarding position and could be called every single time. We were lucky to get it called more than once a week. I could have dropped dead from shock when a tournament crew called it twice in one game.

That is not fighting though a screen. Fighting through a screen is getting on top of the screener so it's impossible for them to rub shoulders. But you can't over play or the backdoor is wide open. So you have to anticipate, get position (with contact thus preventing the screener from adjusting his position) but be ready to go either way.

I'm having a good chuckle at the narrative that they're deliberately getting rid of a 6'10" Big 10 starter who shot 50/33/77. Typical Hawkeye delusions of grandeur.
Word is he got $2M from Iowa this year and with his March heroics, he would probably demand more than that this year. If he's getting $3M from school this year, I would say that's a massive overpay and it would be surprising if Iowa said no thanks.

Exactly my thoughts. If a guy is willing to go through the soccer summer workouts twice without being guaranteed any playing time, he’s a TJ guy. Hopefully he can develop into a tough ************ and earn some PT either this year or next.

Yea. I just read a post on fakebook that said Muurinen, 5 star, from Finland was committed to ISU. No chance.

I'm wondering if it's a 1st choice-2nd choice situation.
Singleton, but Manning as backup plan.
Bond (now committed) or Prather (which ever committed 1st).
Maybe now it's Prather or Mitchell.

Prather or Johnson, or both since Prather can also play forward.

I'm sure Iowa Men's Basketball doesn't want to (and perhaps can't) pay him $3 million, but some of their fans are acting like the team didn't want his skillset back, which is just silly.
