**** Official 2026 MBB Spring Transfer Portal Thread ****

No, he can’t create his own shot. I guess outside of the dirk fadeaway, which happens maybe once a game at most. Still a really good player and super valuable, but creating your own shot requires being able to take people off the dribble, which he can’t really do.

We will agree to disagree. You don't lead the country in 3 pointers made, while also being at or near the top of every scouting report, unless you know a thing or two about how to get open and CREATING open shots for yourself.

Go watch videos of Reggie Miller or Ray Allen running off screens and creating space to get their shot off. Those dudes were prolific shot creators.

Not sure why this is a question? We’re always going to have room for as many as we need.

I question that because it goes against the approach last spring when TJ only had 12 scholarship players and it was later reported that Kelderman was put on scholarship. I recall, at the time it was reported (or speculated) that TJ went with less recruited scholarship players so that NIL/Rev Share money was split among fewer players. aka allowing the 12 to get more money.

Also having 15 recruited scholarship players on roster seems like overkill when TJ has traditionally only played 8/9 guys. Makes me wonder if there aren't additional scholarship guys leaving in the portal.

But this is what scouts are going to tell him to work on if he wants a shot at the first round.
Sure. I don't see it happening. I'd say he needs to figure out how to get to his spots, including a midrange game that we've seen in spurts, but hasn't been a focus. He's not going to take a guy off the dribble and get to the hoop, and he doesn't have to to be successful.

I would add that Batemon showed more slashing capability as the season went along and I think Wiggins has that in his game as well - people are sleeping on Wiggins, but he’s ranked about the same as Milan and Batemon and should be expected to play about as much as a freshman.
Ranked by who? He's a top 150 guy, not a top 50 guy.

But he does have the ability to get open and shoot over people. Why are we discounting that he led the country in 3 pointers made? That is extremely valuable and someone you build an offense around. He was the 10th most efficient offensive player in the country, whether he's "creating his own shot" or not. We obviously still need a supporting cast, but it's insane to me how little people here value him as a player. He's not a product of a system. He is the system.

What exactly is our system? Lol. Our offense was based on Milan running around screens the entire possession. You guys are nuts. When we're in the middle of February, and we're complaining about not having guys who can score next year, we need to remember this conversation. Milan is a gifted shooter and scorer who changes every game he's in. This is a potential All American player we're talking about.
CF: Cries because team doesn't have enough 3pt threats.

Has best 3pt threat in college.

CF: No thanks

This is accurate - not saying it’ll happen but you could see another transfer (Mitchell) or a decommit, if necessary. TJ will get the guys he wants.
If Mitchell wants to stay on as a practice squad guy and try to earn a spot in the rotation, that's a win for us. And maybe him too, depending on what he wants.
