Returning players

This was posted in another thread, but figured it deserved its own thread. Hopefully we get some good news on Milan soon

If this happens that is a pretty great group of 4 guys to build around.

We need a big bad strong rebounder. That will come in handy against a physical team like we saw this weekend. Go get a guy from a mid major or another power 5 that can do Dustin Hogue like things. We missed a scrappy wing / small forward this year.

Hopefully Williams is fully recovered and can step into that small forward role

I'm excited for next year. I think Batemon and Toure will work hard in the off-season to be more consistent on offense. Would love to add a Tyrus McGee type player coming off the bench. Mason Williams, assuming he sticks around, could be a nice player off the bench as well. Need a tough defender/rebounder down low. I think Pleta has a ton of potential and could end up starting over Buchanan. Blake would be a great backup, not so great as a starter.

I think Dorian Rinaldo Komlan is the type of player we need and will see a lot of playing time. Kind of a hot take but Momcilovic is horrible at creating his own shot from three(obviously not in the midrange) and should take the money and extra year of development

Batemon was quiet against Tenn, first game remember him having trouble finding good shots but seems he has a lot of potential to be a scorer

This is way to build a consistently relevant team. All of these guys gained experience alongside guys like Tamin, Joshua and Nate, and will carry forward what they've learned about expectations within the program. And these guys will pass that along when they're through too.

In today's game a lot of kids will transfer out if they don't play right away, so maybe Mason Williams getting injured was a blessing in disguise. He gets to redshirt and come back and the two freshmen guards got significant playing time, with Toure even being a starter. Batemon may have still played anyways had Williams not got injured, but who knows. We should be pretty solid at guard next year.

It all starts with whether Milan comes back. On one hand, he doesn’t have a bunch left to prove, on the other, with this draft class he’s a second rounder at best.

I wonder if the plan is to let Pleta play some 4. He definitely would need to work on his outside shot to do it, but it’s possible. I think with Toure Batemon Buchanan Pleta Williams you have a really solid nucleus. The FR class has some really good players too. It will be really interesting to see who we pursue in the portal. Just need a few pieces.

All eyes on Milan. That is a skill set we aren't just ready made to replace, and will totally determine the who and what we will be looking for in the portal imo. If he's back, then we probably just need one experienced guard and a big wing or 4 to replace Jefferson. If he's gone, we still need those 2 things, but could also add another combo guard or wing with strong 3 point shooting acumen.

I am seriously excited about Toure next season. I think Batemon has it in him to put some major work in to be really solid next year as well.
Agreed that Batemon is in for a big jump this offseason. He’s a full age year younger than Toure and hasn’t had the professional exposure or prep academy experience.

Give him a full summer under Crawford and staff, plus develop physically.
