*** Official #23 Tennessee vs #6 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

The officials let the "players decide the game" in the tournament which allows for another level of physical play. Which is in our favor in our pressing and trapping D. I don't think the SEC is exposed to that as much as teams in the Big 12 grind are. If we can score we'll be all right.

Tenn > ISU at rebounding
ISU > Tenn at turnovers

Refs whistle? wildcard. Lots of whistle favors Tennessee.

Yes, I have experience in this too.

Personally and Professionally.

Unfortunately it’s more than just pain management. If that were the case he would have played Sunday vs Kentucky.

Instability and weakness (mainly the weakness) are the major complicating factors that need to be overcome. And there is no shot or pill for that. You can tape and or brace the ankle, which severely limits mobility. Pain can be managed yes, like you said.

All accounts point to him working very hard to even have a shot at playing. Hes a great player and a great teammate.

I hope he is back to normal by 9:00pm tonight, then I will say, great Job Joshua and Staff , now let’s beat the Piss out of Tennessee.
I don't know if he is going to play but it's odd that you think his pain may not have decreased between Sunday and Friday? Why would that be?

Not sure what you mean.

Pretty sure I didn’t say anything about his pain not decreasing.

I was responding to a reply that said pain can be managed so he will likely play. Which isn’t the case. It’s a piece of the puzzle. But the most limiting factors are instability and weakness.

Of course he’s going to progress.

Walking is good.

Movement is good.

It all helps with recovery.

I hope he plays. I really really do.

Unexpected trip to Bloomington, MN this afternoon. What would be a good place close by to watch the game. Right now I have Full Tilt Tavern
While not an official game watch there is a place on lyndale called sports page. My wife’s uncle used to own it and still helps out a ton. It’s not fancy but reasonably priced and good enough food.

I was really confident about this 1 until yesterday. Im hoping it's just nerves messing with my mind. When we get past Tennessee without jefferson doing much if anything our guys will have soooo much confidence and momentum that we will take down Michigan on Sunday with jefferson being a bigger part of the game.

That’s because Iowa is in the Elite 8. Nebraska forgets to play 5 guys…Florida forgets how to play defense…as Brent likes to say, our pets’ heads are falling off. It’s disorienting…makes you feel like what should happen, won’t…

If Jefferson can't go, I think Toure may have to be on Ament.
It'll be Heise or Milan primarily, I think, even if Jefferson plays, unless Tennessee goes small. They usually play two 'posts' plus Ament. But I could definitely see Toure getting put on him at times, I think he and Heise will cause Ament all kinds of problem

Heise's upper body strength is a nice matchup and he's physical enough to keep him off the glass.
