Is this according to Hassel?
Sorry…don’t understand the question. If it’s a joke, I don’t get it. I know Hassel latched onto it right away, but I expect it from him.

Keith Murphy was all over the very first tweet about Hubert Davis being let go, bringing up TJ immediately. Guy is the sports director for a major station in Des Moines. And you know Sears is rubbing one or ten out just thinking about it. Hell, Hines had an article all ready written as soon as UNC lost to VCU, and he’s retweeted his own article at least three times since then.

Drives me nuts.

Looking around the college forums, the consensus is that most schools would consider TJ a home run hire. They say they can lure him away as Iowa State has "money problems". Iowa State keeps getting hammered on this due to Pollard going vocal about the budget problem on revenue sharing, like almost every school.

Please somebody talk me off the ledge and reassure me that T.J. isn't going to be the next North Carolina coach.
Maybe the new President is getting the ball rolling on the university helping to fund the Athletic department so we don't run out of revenue sharing funding.

So sad to see this getting such airwaves during the tournament, would really prefer to focus on the team and the game against Tennessee.

As far as the UNC job goes, its import to remember that this is a JOB for these people. TJ has earned the right to decide where he works and if we don't have the resources to compete for national titles then this is just the way it is and we either need to strike oil or accept our fate as a feeder school to the wealthy.

It is unfathomable levels of douchbaggery that Murphy, Sears, and Hines do this. They do it instantly and constantly as soon as their is any SNIFF of hope (of Iowa State losing a coach). They without shame intentionally quadruple down on this douchbaggery if it is a big sports week for Iowa State.

There are so many very, very wholesome and cool and interesting and important storylines for Iowa State basketball ahead of perhaps our biggest Sweet 16 opportunity in 26 years.. and yet the central Iowa media - with intense focus - carefully ensures their coverage is heavily tilted towards "coaching searches".

"Wellllll but, but, but, FaNs aRE asKINg AbOUt it SO wE HAVe tO AdDreSs iT!!"

JFC.

Wonder why people think we are poor when most people associated with or media around the program consistently say “omg we are poor”…

Were obviosly gonna sell out for MBB, WBB we have no chance, Rogers doesnt seem to care and will work with what he has, Pollard made him well aware, CMC wanted us to sell out for football and MBB, and Pollard in his financial foreknowledge knew it wasnt gonna work.

Regarding the press, they are not in non profit business. They make money with views and clicks. If a high profile job comes open the are going to start talking about TJ filling it because it accomplishes those goals. Is it annoying? I suppose. Does it mean there is anything to it? No. If they of it every single year (like with Campbell) do their odds of one day being right increase? Yes.

As for TJ, he hit this head on and unprompted. To question above about why bringing up the answer is simple: he doesn’t want distractions during lead up to what might be the biggest weekend in history of our program (at least recently), because he has a solid recruiting class and because portal season is nearly upon us officially: and already upon us unofficially.

The very easy non commital thing to do was wait to be asked, say “respectfully, I’m trying to get ready for an elite 8 game and. Or even thinking about that right now”. Very much like what Lloyd did. In my opinion, TJ is too honest to go that hard and that direct at th rumor unprompted when it would have been so easy - and still honest - to say something else.

Followed by Pollards tweet - which again would be completely out of character if not true - this shuts down anything for now.

Will it come up again? Of course. But if he’s taking this stance when one of the premier coaching jobs in the country is open and another (KU) might be coming open too I think it tells us a lot about his commitment to ISU.

What were the circumstances to his firing initially? Kind of petty stuff in the current world of NIL but more brazen in those earlier years of it? I remember he was let go shortly before we played LSU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament TJs first year. They've been pretty stinky ever since

He was paying players. Now that that’s not an issue, and in fact part of the game, LSU gets him back.

Reality is Wade would have still been the LSU coach anyways if today’s “rules” existed 7 years ago. Sure he’s scummy, but got canned for stuff that is part of the gig now.

I don't even know where NC State looks.

Middle of the pack ACC job while your two biggest rivals suck all the air out of the room and you're program has been in turmoil for 6 or 7 years but somehow snuck into a Final Four. It's a weird job.

Flynn Clayman? Mark Prosser? Antoine Pettway? Phil Martelli Jr?

True...but those were the "rules" and he was more than willing to violate the rules! If he would break those rules...what makes people think he wouldn't break other rules (are there any??)? Once a cheater...
