***2026 NCAA MBB coaching carousel***

This isn't about leaving to scratch a championship itch. It is about leaving if the AD doesn't modernize his/her practices and embrace NIL. Pollard should be beating the streets in DSM and throughout Iowa to promote partnerships and $$ investments in our programs. Instead he's worried about building WallyWorld next to Jack Trice.

That project should help fund the athletic department and modernization.

People still angry about CyTown huh. The athletic department can do two things at once.

From what I've heard they're letting Otz do whatever he needs to do to get/retain players and deals and I'm sure they're supporting him as much as they can.

You guys don't know how long I've wanted someone to come out like this and just immediately shut down the rumors. We are so freaking lucky to get to call him a Cyclone. The video was great.

Not that it doesn’t sound good, but what the hell else is he going to say? We have a ******* Sweet 16 game in less than 2 days. This is the **** that pisses me off. A chance to go the Elite 8 and all the local media wants to do is talk about some hypothetical situation. I mean, **** me. Ben McCollum is likely in the same conversation as TJ in relation to that or any other job, yet the local media won’t even whisper that as a possibility. Nope. Just going to run with “TJ is one of UNC’s top targets”.

**** really bothers me.

Sorry…rant over.

CMC would never had said what TJ said, CMC was such a traitor, Cignetti also shuts down rumours right away, bravo TJ(even if he leaves), for not letting rumours screw up an NCAA game, because they can and will.
CMC is and always will be a politician. No doubt he’s likely a nice guy, but definitely isn’t his true self in front of the cameras.

You guys are just setting yourselves up to be heartbroken.

Not saying he's leaving or anything but how many dozens of examples does it take to never, ever believe a college coach.

Every coach has his 'dream job' right until the the next one comes along...
He was simply squashing any rumors about his name being thrown out for other vacancies saying he isn't interested and staying in Ames

Not sure why some people here are so negative

Edit: I'll add it would be very different if he said "I'm not going to talk about other jobs until after the season." But that's not what he said

Maybe ISU is coach Otz dream job, granted its not the be all of Iowa City, where every thing is perfect, but only he knows. Sometimes the grass is not always greener, and a lot of coaches realized down the road that they would have been better off staying where they were at.

They asked Coach Saban his biggest regret in coaching, and he said without a doubt it was leaving LSU. He liked being a college coach and was at a school that could win multiple championships with an AD that he was friends with. He left that to go to Miami and the NFL, and after one season, jumped right back into college at a situation similar to what he had at LSU at Alabama.

I doubt think for a minute that Campbell left ISU for a larger salary that Penn State could offer, he left because at PSU, they could give him the resources he needs to win championships, something that ISU was not going to be able to offer, same thing with Cael in wrestling. BB is different, in the fact that ISU does have the resources and NIL to be very competitive in BB and win a championship, the teams the last two years have shown that, only thing stopping them is the bad luck of injuries, not lack of money or talent on the floor on in the coaching box.

He definitely didn’t say this. He said the quote that Hines posted. He said he’s appreciative for Pollard and Cook and thrilled about our future together.

Which is great, but he definitely didn’t say “I’m not interested in the UNC opening and am staying in Ames.”
