JJeff Injury Updates

It all really depends on how bad the sprain is. The MRI will help show that. If there is no risk to further injury, then it just a pain tolerance and range of motion thing I think.

I did read the outline of a study of NBA ankle sprains between 2012 and 2015 I think. For all low ankle sprains that caused a player to miss a game, the median recovery time was 8 days.

I was listening on the radio, but went back and watched it, it actually didnt look that bad to me, I have done that exact thing a bunch but not while playing sports.
It looked pretty bad to me. He completely rolled the ankle. Probably came out of the socket
I think it’s one of these options. Maybe even something in between.

non athletic trainer here and had a thought on Jefferson's immediate treatment with the scooter and boot. Whenever we turned/sprained ankles in sports our coaches encouraged us to keep moving (if possible) to help with circulation. Was this old school advice wrong for ankle sprains?

I think he plays 15-20 minutes on Friday and 25-30 on Sunday. Clones head to the F4 with a 90% healthy Jefferson
I could even see 10-15 if the other guys are dialed in and we build a big lead. Enough to get him loosened up. Then you sell out to win the E8 game.

I was always encouraged to start putting weight on it again to get it mobilized.

Have to say... this thread is HILARIOUS!

He's either going to play some... or he's not. It will be what it is.

So funny reading everything from.... "I sprained my ankle once in my YMCA men's league, and I was good to go a week later, so I think he'll be fine!"... to.... "I think he'll play 5 mins"... or someone else saying... "10 to 20 mins"... or someone saying... "he'll be at 50%"... others saying he'll be... "80%", etc, etc, etc. So many experts! It's funny.

My recent personal experience with breaking my ankle while also tearing a ligament was that it resulted in a serious, immediate dislocation. Like, anyone could tell something was seriously wrong just by looking at me.

It's possible he could have torn something, but when he hopped off the court it didn't look dislocated. So, I take them at their word that it's a sprain. Period.

It's not that everyone thinks they are experts, it's that no two ankle injuries are the same. So when people claim "there is no way he will play again because he couldn't put any weight on it", I think it's reasonable for people to refute that with their experiences.

I was giving my opinion as an expert but until that MRI comes out the best you can do is an educated guess

Was that median recovery time for a regular season ankle sprain or a playoff ankle sprain?
