*** Official #16 Texas Tech vs #4 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Feel like he's played his way out of first round against the top 20 teams. If he can't do what he does against them he won't be a hot commodity. Got blocked multiple times on 3's today.

He got blocked more today than any other game I can remember.

Why do the coaches allow someone to drive the lane -when there are three defensive players waiting and pick up your dribble, then turn it over-instead of kicking it out? But that would require others to follow to be in the line of sight so you could kick it-but the offense stands around and offers no help. Multiple possessions had a lane drive with four players on one side-the blind side of the ball handler. The ball handler had no help.

I'm no basketball expert but when the trap/double team constantly leaves shooters open, why do we continue to do it? And Texas Tech is an extremely good 3 point shooting team.

The 45-29 deficit in the first half proves your point. We doubled-down on the trap in the second half, and didn't allow as many passes out of it, but by then the damage had been done. Of anything, I hope TJ can address the "what do we do when the trap isn't working" question in the moment. Call a timeout, change the D, and see what happens.

They were baited several times doing this and it usually cost giving up a three. It is correctable but this late in the year it should have been covered.

What I saw today was one coach who worked the refs, fought for his players and got calls early that set the tone vs. a coach who stands there biting his finger because he thinks it's a weakness to light up refs and fight for his team.

Maybe a coach showing some fight and emotion on the sideline would help like a fire under his players.

If that was the answer it would have already been done. Then you'll be wondering why Batemon can't stop his guy from penetrating and going to the rim.
Batemon is more than capable on D. Must’ve missed the last few games when he was in passing lanes and sometimes guarding the best player? The drop off between him and Toure on D ain’t that much…relative to the drop off offensively
