Tang gonna Tang

I'm actually starting to feel a little bad for him, but I think it might just be because I'm not on Twitter anymore interacting with the obnoxious chronically-online sector of the Kansas State fanbase.
He’s a multimillionaire who accused us of cheating when there was literally no evidence. He can suck a fat one and he will still be fine.

Why? Dude chose to accuse Iowa State of cheating in a completely off-base premise and now he’s throwing his team under the bus. He can definitely do better.

Even if TJ took us to the Final Four this year and Otz got extended and raised (of course), there is no way in hell JP would put ISU's nuts in a vise with an $16-$18 million buyout. If Tang goes (which he should), that idiot AD ought to go with him.

How does Tang go from the interview after the Iowa State game to the interview after the Cincinnati game? They seem to be completely opposite messages
Dude has no compass. Simple as that. Pointing fingers wildly with no idea where he is going. I can't wait to see what mid-tier school thinks he's a 'changed man' in about 4 years.

Tang just needs more time and resources. He's great for the Big 12, and as fans of the conference, we need to do what we can to show him support. I'm not saying they should extend his contract (but I'm certainly not opposed), but KSU needs to honor their commitment to Tang and let him ride this out.

We as fans of the State of Iowa failed to do more to keep Fran McCaffery around, so let's not make the same mistake again.

Let's not forget, every time Tang makes the tournament, Elite 8's happen.

When you stop recruiting high school players and just go buy a bunch of guys off the portal, you get a roster of paid mercenaries who don't give a crap about the uniform their wearing, the coach they're playing under, or the school they represent. It's just a paycheck.

Listened to the Texas WBB on ESPN after they lost to Vandy. He owned it unlike Jerome (it's the players fault not mine) Tang does after a lose.

I agree to an extent.

You can find guys - especially guys who were overlooked out of HS or started at the wrong program and had to go the mid major route - who are hungry for a home at the P4 level, but they have to be the right guys. It can't just all be about stats and highlight reels. TJ has found guys who buy in, want to be here and even stay when offered more elsewhere. Part of that is being honest with them on the front end. Some of TJ's players have said that during recruitment they got the unvarnished truth from TJ about how tough it was going to be and how hard they would have to work. At the same time, coaches like Tang are blowing smoke up guys asses just to get them on campus. In addition TJ sets the example by holding himself and his coaches to the same standard. That isn't the norm across Div 1 basketball.

Garbage in - garbage out

I was unhappy when Iowa canned Fran for two reasons: 1) we lost the entertainment value of seeing him lose his mind during games and the fact that he was never going to take Iowa basketball to a level that would exceed ISU 2) Iowa would luck out and actually hire a good coach which apparently, they have done. So I hate to see Tang so. BTW, what happened to his last year's NIL money ill spent on the Illinois center transfer who was going to be the next big thing in Manhattan?

Don't forget Tang threw Tamin under the bus for "flopping" in a separate press conference completely un-related to Iowa State. Claimed Tamin's the biggest flopper in the Big 12.

I would guess those funds are being spent on Haggerty this year.

Agree. When TJ is shopping the portal, he's looking for guys that are willing to make the enormous sacrifice it takes to handle the demands of his system first and foremost. As his current players have said, this kind of system isn't meant for everyone, and that's probably an understatement.

Then TJ is looking for guys that have very specific traits that are required to play in his system. He's not just looking for the highest ranked players. Bill Self has complimented TJ on his elite ability to do that.

I always thought that was a head scratcher. Tamin spends a lot of time on the floor but that is because he seeks out contact and doesn't have the biggest body when he does it in the paint. He will throw his head when he is smacked like pretty much every guard will do to sell a call but he doesn't go down at a light touch, he plays through it. You don't see Tamin going down from light contact, he tries to play through it and get an 'and one' rather than just flopping to get to the line.

Someone please tell me I'm seeing it through a homer's eyes if I am, but that is what I see.
