*** Official #5 IOWA STATE vs TCU Game(Day) Thread ***

A BS constant here.
Blame the refs...when we play like s***.
Embarrassing, no matter the sport.
Anybody that thought we deserved to win tonight...is a f-ing moron, refs aside

UConn on their run to a national title lost to a couple of very pedestrian teams that year. One at home

Great teams can lose games against questionable teams
They also had 4 current NBA players in their starting line up, including the NBA Rookie of the Year. They had dudes. We don’t, unfortunately.

We are weird. Jefferson can look like first team All American and 1st round NBA pick, or he can look like a baby deer whose never dribbled a basketball in his life. I don't think he caught one pass cleanly tonight either.

Then there's Lipsey who makes such clutch plays and can score timely buckets when needed, but has games like this where he can't buy a 3 pointer or hit a freaking free throw.

It's simply just time for another readjustment of expectations. Hope this team can hang on to a spot on the 2 seed line and get to the 2nd weekend. Anything more than that will be gravy.

IDK man. There are probably minimum 3 guys on our roster that will at least get a cup of coffee in the league.

Sure they can get a cup of coffee like Curtis or Gilbert but UCONN had two starters go Top 10 in that draft.
I don't see or hear anyone realistically trying to compare this ISU team and that UCONN team. After tonight, we should really just be hoping to hang on to a 2- seed and hope to get hot again when it matters most.

But the point was great teams don't lose games games like that which is a falsehood.

ISU has had as many as 3 current players on various draft boards last couple of months. So it's not a talent vacuum

Where ISU lacks is post play

Fun fact there are currently 10 Big 12 players expected to go in the first round

2 from Baylor
2 from Houston
2 from Arizona
1 from KU
1,from BYU
1 from ISU
1 from Tech

30% of the 1st round talent is from the Big 12

Crazy

Great teams do lose, but usually it’s when the other team plays lights out. TCU had played horribly today..

48% of first round NFL talent came from the SEC and 38% came from the Big 10 in 2025.

While I know the NBA draft is vastly different (international players, one and dones, over 300 D1 teams etc) I’d love to see the Big 12 get a higher percentage.

Only way we hang onto a 2 seed is if we win like 3 out of the 5 ranked games we have left....really need to take care of home and beat Utah on the road with "acceptable" losses being to BYU and Arizona on the road.

Lipsey is a deserved legend.
All this past week, CF "employees" have drooled all over him via various pods.
Cool af minus a comment, re: his piss poor 3 pt shooting, tonight included.
Be true journalists, and acknowledge his failures.
Tamin would be the FIRST to agree.

We are not UConn. Thats a whole different level of ball players there.

Obviously need to be better with ball security late when we have the lead. Tamin and Toure are worrisome with turnovers (need good guard play). JJ led us in like every statistical category tonight, obviously wish he hadn’t turned it over as much but we just couldn’t seem to get it going otherwise. Still should have won once we got up 5 at the end (just can’t turn it over like we did).

i think I am just going to tell myself we are going to finish with 6-7 conference losses and will be a 3 seed and hope for a good match up 1st and 2nd rounds. Otherwise I am going to make myself crazy

One thing for sure we have to find a real big man if we wanna go far. Any other top five team that got those passes down low tonight would’ve stuck their elbow down the rim on a dunk and we’re missing layups.
we won't have the $ to get those type of bigs.

We did not look good this week. If we don’t elevate our playing level again then this final stretch of our schedule could get very painful.

This isn’t a great team. This is a good team. Unfortunately, that means that it’s a 50/50 shot whether you get the good team that played like the last few weeks or the team that played like tonight and at Cincinnati.

I’m not sure what it is. Lack of focus? Lack of preparation? Great teams don’t lose those kinds of games.

You could pop through and find all sorts of examples of this kind of thing with all sorts of great teams.

I'll give UC (although I still don't understand how they're that bad with those types of athletes) but TCU is in that NITish level team that was due for a good game after a couple of weird ones.
