*** Official #5 IOWA STATE vs TCU Game(Day) Thread ***

Yeah, now it's like just get a 3 and hope, all expectations gone now...I've just seen enough good coaches destroy us in the half court and the weaknesses are pretty clear...I mean it's a 3 seed, maybe a 4...it's all the better they are, there was hope it could be special but it's just not a 1 seed type of team, that's fine. Now we know.
I mean when you look at the makeup of our roster compared to others that are fighting for 1 and 2 seeds, they have way better athletes than we do and it's not really close.

Long time listener first time poster. TCU defense is elite. Wins against Wisconsin and Florida, and a one possession game against Michigan. Came down to the half court offense and out of the time which has always been the problem. Need to recognize that and let Tamin run the offense. Milan dictates the ceiling of this team. Finally impacting the game more than just the open 3. Him in the post and off the dribble unlocks the entire offense more than Tamin or JJ ever will.
TCU is a really weird team. Wins against Florida and Wisco are good and should have won at Kansas and maybe even Michigan. They also have won lots of head scratchers. They do have a cake schedule to end the season and as long as they don’t drop a few more should be a tourney team.

Despite that, I’m frustrated because TCU didn’t play, this game was just a lot of the usual self inflicted low mental plays like unforced turnovers and inability to make a free throw. I still don’t get why TJ teams struggle so much with basic fundamentals

I mentioned they were like TJ',s first couple of teams. Muck it up and hope you can get a few key buckets

This isn’t a great team. This is a good team. Unfortunately, that means that it’s a 50/50 shot whether you get the good team that played like the last few weeks or the team that played like tonight and at Cincinnati.

I’m not sure what it is. Lack of focus? Lack of preparation? Great teams don’t lose those kinds of games.

Nah....winning at home doesn't mean a ton really. All it would do is make up for this mess.
If they beat Kansas and Houston it means a lot.

Houston is the best team in the Big 12 IMHO.

I mean a red-hot Illinois team was up double digits at home in the 2nd half. Lost to Badgers.

Winning is really hard at home and on the road

Its really hard to predict what the heck is going to happen.

People are in for a rude awakening. This isn’t KU of the past 3 years.
You are correct. I’ve been thinking the same. I was worried about KU before they beat Zona and this fiasco. I’m afraid we pick up two losses at home . These could be some beat downs.

At 21-3 there's no reason to lose our minds. But lack of outside shooting from anyone not named Milan is the biggest sticking point with this team and I just don't know where the consistent answer to that comes from as ISU enters it's toughest stretch of the season by far.

I am a big believer in letdowns after emotionally draining games

Happens all the time

UNC beats Duke loses on road tonight to Miami by 9 or 10

I think KU has a letdown

Defense gets you on the floor in TJ’s system, pros and cons to that but ultimately what we have to live with. Lack of adjustments is what kills us in these games, I think the offensive struggles should’ve gotten Batemon more playing time in the second half, 1 shot from him is unacceptable.

UConn on their run to a national title lost to a couple of very pedestrian teams that year. One at home

Great teams can lose games against questionable teams
