My chore pickup is the first one I’ve had with power locks and windows. I am fine with 4WD, prefer automatic, tilt/cruise, and Air. I buy used and finding a basic pickup now that is used is kinda tough.I can tolerate an Allegiant seat for a couple of hours on an extremely rare occasion to get to/from vacation but I won't do it every day.
There's a market, I'll be a little surprised if it's huge though, but maybe.
Well there's no speakers, but I guess you could throw a JBL Partybox in the passenger seat.The older "get off my lawn" guys who like to DIY in their garage, and the younger crowd who really doesn't care much about amenities as long as they can hear their music with AC.
I think for the people really advocating EV's this type of approach is a winner. Like hippie cabbage being a gateway, so could this. Cheap, DIY and an EV?! What's not to love?

Yeah my last truck was as barebones as you could get. Not doing that again as bare minimum is now heated seats and steering wheel. Though even some lower trims on vehicles easily include those anymore. The work truck milage and fuel cost being on the company is nice, but miss having the heated/cooled massage seats with heated steering wheel and adaptive cruise on my car.That's kinda what I see with it. The population of people who really want a completely-featureless vehicle is really small ... The Denalis of the world are cleanly outselling the base models (to non-business buyers, anyway). People like creature comforts and they definitely sell. Commuting is hard enough as-is without making it even more uncomfortable
Personally I always shoot for the middle of the road trim level. I don't need the seats made from Unicorn leather or anything. I want heated front seats and a heated wheel, wireless carplay (or similar). I prefer leather just because it's easier to clean than cloth but it's not something I'll jump up to the top level trim for. I think AC is standard these days but I'll go ahead and put that our there. Anything else if it's there cool but it's not something that really influences my decision between trim levels.Yeah my last truck was as barebones as you could get. That's because in the US, we strongly prefer:A perfect example of this was the Honda Fit.
Hers was completely loaded for $22k.
