Mega Mart coming to Des Moines area

We stopped at a Buc-ees in Mississippi last week on our way to Mobile, the gal I talked to said it was the only one in the state but they are planning on building another on in a year or two. You have to experience a
Buc-ee's to really understand what they are doing. I really like their Texas Strawberry tea.

Did you get some brisket?:)

Always get a brisket sandwich when we stop. I believe I have been to about 8 to 10 Buc-ee's over the past five years. Texas, Mississippi, S. Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia and Tennessee. They are building one in Kansas right by the racetrack, so that will be our first gas stop on our way to Dallas once its built,

I've only been to a Buc-ees three times, but they are not for me. All three times, had to wait for an open gas pump, and the place was just packed full of slow-wandering zombies. Just a tough environment with three young kids who need to stretch their legs on a road trip.

I did appreciate the cleanliness of the bathrooms, though.

They can be a zoo when they are new to the area, we stopped at one in Tennessee that was the 5 day after it opened, and people were everywhere. Would not have been a fun experience if you had a couple little kids.

The Buccee's on I-10 at the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach exit backs up traffic all the way on tot he interstate in the summer. It's a god damn nightmare.

You don't go there for gas.

Agreed here. I've never had to wait for a pump, but the stores have always been very busy. It can make for a stressful environment to navigate, especially when you have kids to keep an eye on.

I've only had the Texas Brisket Burrito. It's good

We talked about hitting that one when we get back to shore, buts its quite a bit out of the way for us, so we will pass.
Not sure why anyone could be anti Buc-ee's, their gas tends to be very competitive, cleanest restrooms you can find and their brisket is great, either sliced or chopped. If you are into beef jerky they have an entire wall of it. Plus like I said before I like other load up on their Texas Tea, wish they had it back in Iowa.

LOL go by this one during the summer travel season and you would understand why. It will take you 20-30 minutes just to get into the lot and parked. We like to stop on our way home at like 6:00 AM and they have a wonderful breakfast brisket taco/burrito.

I really don't get how having I35/I80 intersect doesn't justify a Buc-ee's.

I80 in Omaha only receives a little more daily traffic than in Des Moines, and I wonder if the people that actual go to Buc-ee's (non locals) wouldn't be higher on our stretch. I have no clue what I'm talking about, but I feel like we deserve one.

Where would they put it?
I'm not immediately thinking of an open space large enough around Hickman, University, or even down on Mills Civic

South of Norwalk on I-35, the mayor was pushing some kind of campaign for Buc-ees...
