*** Official West Virginia vs #3 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

NBA rookie minimum is evidently $1.15 million per year.

On Fizer and the "starting 5", Larry's scheme didn't have five traditional unique positions, it was basically just "guards" and "bigs".

Right, but with his skill set in college, I would consider him a center while he was at Iowa State, if you had to label it. Mostly post up, guarded other teams centers, not a regular play initiator.

Royce, I would consider a PF due to his ball handling/play initiating even though he was similar in size to Fizer.

Can we talk Heise and Toure a bit -

Anemic stat lines - 4 pts/8reb between them.

However, I saw Heise had the best +/- on the team at +22

And Toure had a bit of reality smite him in the head with conference play but his def didn't drop off one bit and I never saw a hung head.

This is norm for Heise and as far as Toure, I think part of it was the fact there wasn't much oxygen left after the Milan/JJeff/Tamin show (heck throw Batemon in there as well).

Long story short - even a 'bad' game from these two is contributing.

He is definitely much stronger than he was as a freshman and his defense has improved. SF position in the league is often one of the more athletic and that’s going to be the knock on him.

To be clear, I’m not trying to imply he’s not going to have an NBA career. Was just responding to why he’s not a projected lottery pick.
Oh I agree. It seems everyone in the NBA can shoot. It's "Yeah, but what else can you do?"

look at where milan catches all those passes. chest high and right into his shooting motion.
Loves the two he faked, dribbled once to the side, and then shot.

Was literally saying last game “does Milan know what he’s going to do with the ball after he shot fakes?” and now he goes and does this twice. We’ve always known he can shoot but feel like there is a new dimension to it this year.

I'm getting to the point that if Milan makes 1 of his 1st 2 threes, the rest of them just seem like free throws for him. Amazing shooter.

The question for Milan will be how long can he keep this up!

We will need others to continue to step up when other teams try to take him away. I’m looking at Batemon and Heisie to help with that. We need those guys to make teams pay dearly if they are open

I am still drooling over this game.

First 10 min were meh- here we go again, probably win by 6-9 just because.

Then there was a 5 minute or so stretch where we just bent them over and it was doing everything - passsing, def, rebounding. It was something that I have not really seen an ISU team do before but we have seen the Kansas and Houstons do to us. This was different than the Houston blowout in KC - maybe similar to the Laugher in West Lafayette. It was just sheer will imposition on the other team. There we 2 rebounds during that stretch - one by JJeff and one by Buchanan - off rebounds - where they just ripped the ball away from WVU and you knew it was on.

I really think WVU felt like they had a good shot up until then and they might have.

After that they didn't want to be here.

I don't know if it was on command or if something just clicks and the team takes off but if we continue to see that, this is going to be historic.
