What's streaming that's good TV/movies

Was worried after episode 7 but it ended up way better than GOT’s finale, don’t understand that comparison at all. All in all it was probably one of the better episodes in a below average season.

Morale of the story is don’t take forever to produce seasons if child actors are the main characters.
I liked it mostly, but the way the supernatural villains went down was pretty bad in both.

Overall the final season of Stranger Things was good not great. Always hard to land a big franchise like that IMO. There were some great moments and some I didn't care for. For people complaining about Wills reveal the whole point of him doing that was Vecna preys on your greatest fears and plays mind games. In Wills mind that was the thing he was struggling with the most and by revealing it and taking care of it it cleared his mind from any weakness that Vecna could exploit to manipulate him.

My biggest issue was the final battle felt a little too straightforward and easy. I expected a little more of a twist there. I didn't mind all the post battle epilogue scenes with the characters. We've gotten to know them over several seasons and it was kind of a nice sendoff for them all and a final bow on all their character development

I also enjoyed the series finale and I completely agree with the bolded point. It would not have felt right to me if characters like Hopper and Steve and the others outside the core group were ignored in the epilogue. They deserved their endings as well.

My only (minor) criticisms with the finale are that I wish that Dr. Owens (the "good guy" doctor played by Paul Reiser) had a cameo of some sort in either the last season or this last episode. I really enjoyed that character. And I also would have liked to have known the circumstances of the military's departure from Hawkins; did Kay just declare "Mission Accomplished" and pack up and move out? Quite clearly Hopper and Nancy haven't faced any major consequences for gunning down American soldiers; Hopper is even back in uniform!

I do think that Season 4 was the best season.

My one other complaint was the artifact in the briefcase. Do we know where that came from? Or the back story on that? Admittedly I didn't rewatch anything prior to the last season and it has been a couple years so maybe I forgot something

I believe this will be we part of a spinoff. Right now I believe we're supposed to make some assumptions about it.

It's a really good series imo. People almost always are disappointed by finales of franchises like this but I thought they did a solid job and overall I love the show
Probably should be using spoilers though in a generic thread like this.

I listen to House of R podcast, and they mentioned this was covered in a Stranger Things broadway show I had no idea existed.

Apparently this artifact allowed the Mindflayer, which exists in Dimension X, to connect with Henry and warp him from within. But that’s all I know about it.

Anyone buy the Conformity Gate theories floating around the interwebs for Stranger Things?

I want it to be true, but don't want to get my hopes too high.

Would be quite the twist and a super unique thing that's never happened to my knowledge. I would love it to be true as I love Stranger Things but no I don't buy it

I think people are giving the writers too much credit. The show is done and needs to be done. Spinoff is fine, but the main story needs to be put to bed. We started rewatching the 1st season lastnight and it really changed since then. I actually miss the style they came out of the gate with. But thats just me. Liked the show overall and the ending was satisfying enough, but this show isn't LOST-level of depth.

It had a very 80's vibe, with a kids against the world kind of thing. It's hard to maintain that vibe for sure, especially when the series goes on too long and the kids are adults (playing kids) at the end.

Seems pretty well shot down at this point. I don’t think they had much an eye for all of the details that fans are noticing.

Here's a money-saving tip from your Uncle Pourcyne:

The Internet Archive has quite a few movies that are free to watch. Had a hankering to rewatch Dr. Strangelove. None of my subscriptions were offering it as part of the subscription fee (greedy bastids). And then voilà...look what avoided a fight in the war room.

Honestly probably a good thing. My wife and kids were doing Lost, I loved it at the time, but there is a 0% chance I’d watch it now even for the first time.

I keep contemplating watching all of Lost. I didn't really see S1 when it first released. Watched all of S2&3, but noped out after the S3 finale. I think S4&5 were on at the same time as something else I was watching at the time, so I just moved on from it.
