So we can't question Pollard on here anymore?

Pollard did a great job but its time for him to go.
I assume you’re from “Pott” county, Iowa. The Huskers have seeped into your subconscious so I will forgive you. Pollard has his flaws but he makes sh-t into s-u-g-r. We need seasoned leadership to step to the plate now more than ever, it is not the time for a newbie.

I'd concede that announcing the new coach immediately after Campbell leaves could be seen as petty and may have been if reports that MC wanted to go over the head of the AD directly to donors to meet his own needs is a true report. But naming a coach as quickly as possible in that situation is an imperative, so a rapid announcement that says, "MC is gone, we don't need MC" is just a side bonus for him.

People with attachments to the people who are gone may not like it, but as has been repeatedly demonstrated, JP is going to do his job with the best interest of ISU's athletics in mind, without concern for how we feel about it. It's not like the haters never had anything to complain about with him before this.

The front half and the back half of your sentence seem to conflict. Do you typically advocate the firing of people who are doing a good job?

Let’s see, the men’s basketball program is currently in its best shape ever and is ranked 3rd in the nation and undefeated. The football program is currently on the best 10 year stretch in history. The women’s basketball program is currently ranked in the top 10 and undefeated with as of right now, the national player of the year on its roster and the wrestling program is back to being relevant again. The only sports that matter and in reality, only two sports matter(men’s basketball and football). The programs are doing all of this with less money than every school in the Big ten and SEC. Not to mention the non Big ten and SEC schools that have big donors(Duke, North Carolina, Miami, etc). ISU competing in the top of all those sports, but then we have dumb ***** like the OP calling for the head of the AD for failing at his job. Jamie Pollard continues to prove over and over, that he is one of, if not the best AD in college sports by keeping ISU at the top without the top resources. The irony of this jack ass is that he calls out people for not having critical thinking skills when he’s the one who has none. What a ******* stupid post, by a clueless moron.

Absolutely. Total body of work is outstanding. Some things about him butean but it’s meaningless

I'm not going to read 20 pages of this but shutting down conversation around the issue, on multiple occasions, in an environment where conversation is occasionally moderated but virtually never shut down, is incredibly weak and only adds credibility to the idea that CF functions as the PR arm of the athletic department.
Considering a post by CF that started the whole bash Pollard thing I wouldn’t consider them as a mouthpiece. Quite the contrary.

I think there was a pod where someone mentioned Stine and I think Blum said something about if someone had an in with Stine he’d love to get it.

Not saying it couldn’t change, but when I have heard him talk about things important to him, I would be completely and totally shocked if Stine was even open to the idea of funding college athletics. Like I would put the odds that he was going to create some huge NIL fund for Campbell at 0.000001%.

I think most likely a combination of this, and our dumb fans thinking ISU has never thought to approach Iowas richest person.

I never saw the Stine story, but the idea gives me goosebumps.

If you see this as mutually exclusive, I don't know what to tell you.

All you had to say was “I don’t know what to tell you.”
Great, so you do see this as mutually exclusive.

I'm not sure what line of business you're in, but it's not uncommon at all to see transition with leadership when there are larger transitions going on with the company or the industry they play in. It's extremely common in tech and particularly with early stage companies where the kind of person to get you from A to B is not the same kind of person you need to get you from B to C.

So yes, it's entirely possible for someone to have been very good at their job while at the same time not necessarily being the best person for the job going forward.

I don’t think so. There are definitely topics on here that either are shut down real quick or are shut down once they start going a certain way. It’s not just this thread.

I don’t think it is clear. The site can be inconsistent on what is allowed to remain open or what isn’t, but it’s on more than just this topic. I think it’s more of a site decision than an AD decision
Fred fell in his lap, and Fred came to him In fact he turned down Fred and hired McDermott first then later hired Fred.

I am retired. Leadership and management consultant for 20 years until my company was purchased by CVS. Prior to that I lead two hospitals from the brink of closure to award winning facilities that people traveled to from all over the country to learn from. Not bragging. But you weren’t sure, so I thought I’d share. I know management and leadership.

So then you've certainly seen this in other workplaces? Where they guy for the job past/present may not be the right guy for the job in the future?

I think Fred saved Pollard’s job. If he had been a flop, I can’t imagine Leath wouldn’t have made an AD change when things started going downhill for Rhoads.

So when is the right time? An hour, day, week, month? JP didn't hurt those players. This is business, not a funeral. What's JP supposed to do......give them all bereavement time before conducting business?
I don’t know but it doesn’t take a genius to know that it’s not during a coaches meeting with the players who are in the middle of receiving news that is going to hurt.

Quite possibly but Steve Leath was a total idiot.
