Money raising for NIL

Just feels like a giant scam 'donating' to NIL. The product needs to pay for itself through ticket sales and TV revenues and not survive on patronage for player incomes
You're not wrong. But that's not reality. Reality is that regardless of if you like the practice, it exists and if you want to compete in power conference athletics, that's the game you have to play.

I would love to know just how much our former players now in the pros (both football and basketball) have given to NIL. You can only milk so much money out of the average fan but these former athletes making millions in the pros have much more sound financial standing to donate than most of us could ever dream. At some point anyone not a blue blood school is going to have a hard time trying to keep up with the Jones in NIL because we don't have the rich donor base to compete on a yearly basis. Fans aren't going to dig deeper and give more when the system is rigged to benefit the ones that have been playing this game before it was legal to do so.

I've said it here before, I get no return on investment if I give to NIL which is why I don't. I buy season tickets and I buy beers that give to NIL but that's all I will do. Call me a bad fan if you want but I'd rather put $1000 to pay down loans or my kids college savings than donate to give an athlete already on a full ride scholarship more money.

Totally agree with this. I will never donate to NIL unless its beers or pizza. NIL is destroying college athletics and despite me being a diehard fan with 25 years of season tickets college years included, the second NIL become obviously part of the donation for me to get tickets, I walk.

Even without coaches leaving, these players will continue to enter the portal 30 seconds after their last game, or before their last game if it's worthless bowl and they decide not to play to go try and get more bag. Ya no thanks. My kids / grandkids will get my extra money.

What creative ideas can you come up with? One less can of beer at the tailgates at $4 a can times 7 games a year could equal a million dollars right there
If we're going to talk about beer at tailgates...

How about getting everyone to drink Ames Lager or similar ISU NIL products. We should all call out our tailgate buddies who drink major national major brands like Anheuser-Busch/Miller/Coors products and giving their money to those billion dollar companies...

If I hear a single Cyclone fan complaining about ISU needing more NIL money and they're drinking Busch Light/Bud Light/Miller Lite/Coors Light/etc. I'm gonna tell them to shut their mouths, lol.

Start selling clone cones at football games

Halfway serious
Clone Cones out of an ice cream truck/golf cart/Gator for hot weather game tailgates. Shoot, ice cream truck all summer cruising Ames and surrounding towns, featuring the Clone Cone and other assorted frozen treats, tie-in deal with Blue Bunny. Alternate the fight song with a catchy jingle on loud speaker.

Edit: Cut blue bunny out of the equation.

The younger folks like the white claw type beverages. Produce and distribute "Cyclone Seltzer" along with the Ames Lager and the 1958 vodka. Better margin on the hard seltzer. Pre mixed beverages also an option.

Here’s what fans don’t realize…tickets in Ames are dirt cheap.

As I’ve looked at Texas games and even dismal OSU tickets this fall…we’re 1/2 to 1/4 of the prices of Baylor or TCU for similar seats.

Fastest way to raise money…ticket prices.
People don't want to hear it but you're right. Raise current tickets prices off the type of games we already get or...

Could piss off the coaches and make schedules harder. Mandate more fan attractive schedules to sell tickets. Get an 11th p4 game for football in late September and fill your basketball noncon with more home/homes p4s. Go from $30 single game tickets for games like SEMO and Bowling Green to $70 vs random decent p4 school. Could also get rid of the basketball buy games that sell tickets for like $10 and swap for a decent p4 team and get $50.

They could also require separate cyclone club donation amounts for season tickets for football and basketball to really piss people off.
