That video was something else. Campbell turning around and having to be restrained by players and coaches.

This is a pretty common tactic among coaches that I notice; take a criticism of a coaching decision and spin it into a criticism of "the kids" (players) not executing.
At the time, it was explained away as he’s just so protective of his players.” But that comment had nothing to do with the players.
I believe Campbell apologized afterwards. But it does seem like the mask slipped off for a minute.
The schedule is made years in advance and every team gets the same pattern of games now except for protected rivalries. No setting up just fair distribution now.
It was the beginning of the rot. That reaction. Not the loss to a G5 team.
CMC is going to have a much longer leash then many on here think but if he loses to a G5 team or if the recruiting drops to far from franklins high standard then that seat is going to get very hot very quickly
That didn't take long for one of these lists to come out. CBS with a Big 10 coaches rankings. These lists are a joke. I remember these lists had Ryan Day as one of the top coaches after 1 year. Campbell at 8th in this ranking.

He’s got 3 years to make the playoffs or his seat will warm, unless it absolutely craters like PSU did this year, in which case he could be fired at any time.
Can we all just go spam this all over the Penn State boards so they can see who they just hired?
Yeah that’s a fair ish window that he could extend with some big wins or huge developments at QB.
Next year there is a very easy schedule but also if he drops some of those easy games like he did at ISU he will be turned on fast. Thats what ended up costing Franklin his job
If they lose an “easy” game next year, it could turn fast, especially with Terry Smith hanging around after a 4-0 finish full of fan and player love. I get why the AD wanted to keep him, but that’s a weird dynamic. I doubt that would have been how Matt would have drawn it up.
He’s gonna have to manage the players going to Smith for any of a number of things, including playing time gripes, questions about calls, etc. How Smith handles it will obviously matter as well…
It prevents more of an exodus and CMC for sure signed off on that. Maybe he signed off on it under pressure but that’s not a decision that he has zero input on.
Yeah he can’t lose a G5 game, he just can’t but he’s done it before. Normally the talent at PSU should cover that issue but the cupboard is pretty bare with zero reciting class and some transfers.
If his first reciting class isn’t top 15 that seat will also get hot.
