Verizon Wireless vs. Metronet Fiber..... Thoughts?

I am changing from my current Metronet 1 Gig service to the Fiber Founders Club 2 Gig plan. I called them up after my initital 2 year start up plan ran out and got them to drop it from $100 down to $59/month. With the current promo I was on with Metronet, I was paying for the $13 tech fee and extender for $5. So about $80 for 1 Gig. Now with Fiber Founders there is no monthly tech fee. They are coming out Monday to install the new router. $70/month for 2 Gig.This is a 10 year guaranteed price. I had to put in my address to see if I was eligible and I was.

I just did the 2 GB t mobile fiber but they are only doing 80/mo now.

I called metronet a couple weeks ago and they matched the currently offered 2GB tmobile deal @ $70/mo. I was paying like $83 after fees for 500/500.

I just got a flyer in the mail yesterday about it for $70. Weird.
Yea I just called yesterday and got the 2Gbit for $70 "founders" offer. Guy blew through the update in record time, "I've done a few of these recently", lol

I did the Founders $70. A few observations:

I had purchased my own EERO 6 devices. I uninstalled them, and they brought out a EERO Pro 7 router, and an EERO Pro 7 Mesh unit. These now come free with the Founders package. I had to convince them that this was part of the deal.

I bought a new switch to handle 2 gb speeds. My old one could only handle 1gb, and this one can handle 10gb (9 port).

A week later, my bill is all wrong. I had to chat with them to get it right, which they say will be fixed on the next bill.

call and ask for the loyalty department, they should be able to get you on the founder's club deal- $70\month, 10 year price lock, and they'll include an extra eero free along with a free static IP if you ask (which helps with some of the poor geolocation metronet sometimes has, and avoids some gaming issues that their CGNAT can cause)

I got these letters too. I called T Mobile this morning, they said that while they own Metronet, they are separate entities and since I was currently on Metronet, I should contact them since T Mobile couldn't give me that offer themselves. (Begs the question of why they sent me numerous letters under the T Mobile name, but I digress.) I asked if I needed to cancel Metronet to join T Mobile and she laughed and said, "I wouldn't recommend that, but you could."

I then called Metronet and got the deal. One additional bonus is that the $12.95/month "tech assure" fee goes away with T Mobile. So 2 GB speed is $70 + tax. Quite a bit cheaper than Metronet, and locked in for 10 years.

Turned out that the modem they installed at our house 3.5 years ago can't handle 2 GB so there's a guy at my house right now installing the new one. (Again, I called them for the first time this morning.)

I've been very happy with my Mediacom since Metronet came to town and took some strain off the infrastructure. But good lord, 2 gig fiber for 70 bucks and 10 year price lock is insane. Might finally be enough to make me jump. Does T-Mobile also charge the BS $13 "tech fee"?

I didn't see any mention on the website but wasn't sure about the hidden stuff. Thanks!
Plus you get the Eero 7s. When I switched over they upgraded the modem and Eeros.

The only issue I have with the 2gb upgrade is now when the microwave is on, the TV goes into buffer mode.

Got an email from Verizon that our place is eligible for Verizon Wifi Internet service for $35 a month, guaranteed for 3 years. We've had Metonet Fiber for about 5 years and are paying close to $100 a month for it.

My questions are....

Does anyone have Verizon Wifi? What do you think of it?

I'd welcome any advice on whether to make the switch or not.
It’s worth keeping in mind that most people use far more data than they realize. Simply browsing the internet consumes significantly more data today than it did in the past. Images, video, and background data on modern websites are much larger in size and quality.

Streaming services like Netflix can dynamically scale quality to accommodate slower connections, but when the bandwidth is there, the difference is obvious. A good example is Amazon’s Thursday Night NFL broadcasts, which are available in 4K. With a 4K TV and gigabit internet, the improvement in quality is sigifigant for me.

I assume that 4K broadcasts will become more common in the near future. That said, I’m surprised the NFL hasn’t already made this the standard, so I may be overestimating how quickly that transition will happen.

Spent a bit of time on the phone between T Fiber and Metronet trying to get a better price and a similar experience. Had 3 friends with Metronet that all called the T Fiber number on the flyer they got and had no issues getting a deal. I spent 20 minutes with T Fiber and was basically told I would have to call Metronet and cancel so they can setup an account for me. Called Metronet and 10 minutes later got hooked up with a deal so don't know why if T Fiber owns Metronet why I got the run around with them other than maybe my account hasn't been migrated to their system yet? Could be that I am on Verizon for my cell phone not T Mobile too. Either way got my bill down quite a bit than what I was paying so mission accomplished.

Is this just for internet? We pay around 80 dollars for Metronet, this was their introductory offer a couple of years ago.
