I'm sure others already responded in similar fashion, but I despise the "jilted lover/unfaithful spouse" metaphor BS as it pertains to departing coaches or players.

Yup, 100%. I root For Iowa State. If it wasn’t for ISU, I wouldn’t watch college sports, except maybe the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. I do not wish ill will on anyone who leaves ISU, but you are crazy if you think I’m going to root for you.Yeah that’s disgusting. I am (and 99% of this board probably is) an Iowa State fan. I’m not an Iowa State fan because we had Rocco Becht or because we had Matt Campbell. I was an Iowa State fan before them and I’ll continue to be an Iowa State fan forever. Miss me with that garbage

I like how this is your new favorite wordThat’s cuck mentality
Be careful giving your loyalty to Rogers. He will do the same thing Campbell just did when presented with the opportunity. Loyalty in College sports no longer exists.Campbell left us for someone else. Matt Campbell is a Nittany Lion now. He left us to go to them. Since Campbell could no longer commit himself to the Cyclones he left. The lure of more money and more resources left Iowa State as unattractive to Campbell. He desired Penn State over us. So be it. Good luck. We have a new Coach. I have loyalty to Jimmy Rogers because he WANTS to be our Coach. Matt Campbell’s loyalty is now with Penn State. He is not a Cyclone now. Thanks for the good times. Good luck.
Y'all realize the portal works both ways, right?
Iowa State is going to sign several kids that spring that were 'loyal' to other schools and the fans of that laundry will have the same reaction.
He very likely will. Very few coaches have not done this at some point in their career.Be careful giving your loyalty to Rogers. He will do the same thing Campbell just did when presented with the opportunity. Loyalty in College sports no longer exists.
Fair point. Loyalty can relative and different for everyone. He very likely will. Very few coaches have not done this at some point in their career.
I'm not sure what you mean by "loyalty", though. If you mean "don't set your expectations that any of our coaches are going to stay here forever" then I 100% agree with you. If you mean "don't support him and the program while he's here because it's just going to be a stepping stone" then I would strongly disagree.
He's not playing in the NFL. Going to the highest bidder probably is the smart move. Not a smart move on his part but I hope it works out for him. If it’s just about money then it makes sense. I figured all season this would be his last in Ames regardless. There’s talent behind him and we’re probably not going to have a big drop off in coaching.
What exactly does that do for him?He could have been a legacy here.

Coaches leaving for better opportunities isn't a new thing.Be careful giving your loyalty to Rogers. He will do the same thing Campbell just did when presented with the opportunity. Loyalty in College sports no longer exists.
Agree. These kids give zero f**ks about this. You've got your rare exception with someone like Lipsey, but that's about it. Very few and far between. What exactly does that do for him?
If ISU basketball wasn't a top tier program he probably wouldn't have stuck around either. Basketball is probably the one sport we have a fighting chance to retain people in.Agree. Lipsey was ready to jet for UNC and demanded a significant raise to stay.Agree. These kids give zero f**ks about this. You've got your rare exception with someone like Lipsey, but that's about it. Very few and far between.
As he should. But he stayed and I guarantee he's still taking a home town discount. He's still one that clearly gives a **** about this community and this program.Lipsey was ready to jet for UNC and demanded a significant raise to stay.
