Rocco joining the Transfer Portal

Campbell left us for someone else. Matt Campbell is a Nittany Lion now. He left us to go to them. Since Campbell could no longer commit himself to the Cyclones he left. The lure of more money and more resources left Iowa State as unattractive to Campbell. He desired Penn State over us. So be it. Good luck. We have a new Coach. I have loyalty to Jimmy Rogers because he WANTS to be our Coach. Matt Campbell’s loyalty is now with Penn State. He is not a Cyclone now. Thanks for the good times. Good luck.

Yeah that’s disgusting. I am (and 99% of this board probably is) an Iowa State fan. I’m not an Iowa State fan because we had Rocco Becht or because we had Matt Campbell. I was an Iowa State fan before them and I’ll continue to be an Iowa State fan forever. Miss me with that garbage
Yup, 100%. I root For Iowa State. If it wasn’t for ISU, I wouldn’t watch college sports, except maybe the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. I do not wish ill will on anyone who leaves ISU, but you are crazy if you think I’m going to root for you.

Seems like some people here would be fine with their wife leaving them for another man, as long as it makes their wife happy.

I'm sure others already responded in similar fashion, but I despise the "jilted lover/unfaithful spouse" metaphor BS as it pertains to departing coaches or players.

Right about now I’m guessing Sherrone Moore wishes there weren’t exceptions to this rule.

Be careful giving your loyalty to Rogers. He will do the same thing Campbell just did when presented with the opportunity. Loyalty in College sports no longer exists.

Y'all realize the portal works both ways, right?

Iowa State is going to sign several kids that spring that were 'loyal' to other schools and the fans of that laundry will have the same reaction.

Yep. And that’s why I am not at all upset with Rocco. He’s doing what’s best for him and his family. It may not be what’s best for us (I’d argue it may be just fine if we’re rebuilding anyways).

My complaint is the system and environment that we’re in. During the game last night they were celebrating the fact that all the QBs in the Heisman were transfers, as if that were a positive for the sport. It is not. The fans of those top schools may get excited and maybe that drives ESPN’s metrics. But it’s causing the fans of the other schools to lose interest. When you have a system that teams buy players that others take the time to develop, it goes completely against why fans chose CFP over the NFL. Maybe we need a system like international soccer where the new school pays the original school the transfer fees?

He very likely will. Very few coaches have not done this at some point in their career.

I'm not sure what you mean by "loyalty", though. If you mean "don't set your expectations that any of our coaches are going to stay here forever" then I 100% agree with you. If you mean "don't support him and the program while he's here because it's just going to be a stepping stone" then I would strongly disagree.

The more I reflect on Rocco the more it’ll be funny if he goes to pedo state. Campbell played him hurt and realistically cost us several games in the process.

Hurt Rocco’s stats while costing us W’s.

I remember one of the 4 where he struggled badly and MC said Rocco played a great game expect for the one interception.

I told a buddy that either Campbell wasn’t watching the game or he’s sleeping with Rocco.

Those were the only two explanations.

Fair point. Loyalty can relative and different for everyone.

JFC, some of you Nancies will really be disappointed when you are how many times the CF truck is over at Otz house and know that they're really friends... he made an analogy, and i really don't think it's that bad of one. Everyone's head was spinning for 24 hours, Matt and most of his staff were unlike any coaches here before.

Not a smart move on his part but I hope it works out for him. If it’s just about money then it makes sense. I figured all season this would be his last in Ames regardless. There’s talent behind him and we’re probably not going to have a big drop off in coaching.
He's not playing in the NFL. Going to the highest bidder probably is the smart move.
