Assistant Coaches

BB saying today that Heacock and Rasheed have not been confirmed as going to Ped St and are still coming into the football offices. Don’t know what to make of that. Brent said they helping with the coaching transition.
I wouldnt get hopes up about them staying, but any last magic from those two are appreciated. The are stay in Ames for a decade at their positions. They deserve our appreciation.

Also, Rasheed was an assistant at FAU and while I haven't been able to find the exact dates it feels likely there is some overlap between who they know/worked with for Watson at least and maybe Rogers.

And I assume they are still employed by the AD and appreciate that they are still coming into the office to help.

No expectations of them staying, just surprised by early reports of them joining Campbell and today’s report that nothing is confirmed.

I took it to mean they aren't among the 10 "assistant" coaches Campbell is looking to have on his staff at Penn State. So they are earning their ISU paycheck and helping Roger's staff get settled in.

Heacock makes perfect sense, its not surprising at all that he would want to help the players and athletic department with the transition. After the next month or so, he can either retire, stay at Iowa St. in an athletic department or senior analyst role or go to Penn St. in an analyst role.

Rasheed is a lot more interesting. He is 53 and has spent the last 17 years with Campbell. He was top of my list for expecting them to be on staff with Campbell at Penn St.

Heacock still being around the building Campbell's way of still having his contact with the players he potentially wants to bring with?

Don’t know how much we can put into this, but guys like Broomfield and Clanton have been removed from ISU AD roster while Heacock and Rasheed are still there.

Not everything is some kind of underhanded conspiracy. Its possible we just had a coaching staff full of good people who aren't out for only themselves.
Exactly. Put yourself in Heacock's or Rasheed's shoes. A bunch of young men that they've, in many cases, spent years developing relationships with and trying to help succeed are now going through a very challenging moment. Right now, the players probably need adult advice more than ever. It makes total sense that Heacock and Rasheed want to be there for the players, regardless of what their next steps are professionally.

Interesting, does anyone know who may be the DC at Iowa State next year?

I would think it may be the old Washington State DC, or if we went in house go Deon Broomfield? Giving it to Broomfield would help with retention up front.

Those are probably the 2 guys I’m saddest to see going
Agree completely. I appreciate ALL of the coaches but I felt like Heacock and Rasheed we heard from quite a bit and they just seemed like great guys.

And I know it was on Twitter yesterday that Heacock went to the women's basketball practice to speak to them and I saw Rasheed retweeted something about Roehl being a good replacement for Mouser.

I should have added that Mouser is right up there as well. Just seems like a great dude and players loved him.
