Assistant Coaches

I mean it appears a $50M buyout wouldnt stop anyone if they really wanted anyone. You know what it would do, Give ISU a huge leg up on finances when someone comes calling.

The $2m buyout was pretty stupid, when that contract was negotiated it was pretty much after the coaching searches were done. If that is what we had to do to keep him then he was already gone. It not like if he had a $20M buyout PSU wouldnt have paid it, but that $20M would have went a long way to help our finances.

To me that just means JP made a terrible deal. Its not like we had to give him anything at that point he had a contract through several more years. Basically we just gave him a gift and an easy out, because apparently we are so pathetic we have nothing else to offer.
The buyout should be tied to the leaving coach’s new contract.

Something like 5-10% of the total compensation. With maybe a minimum and a maximum.

Don’t know how much we can put into this, but guys like Broomfield and Clanton have been removed from ISU AD roster while Heacock and Rasheed are still there.
I see Reid Kady is listed on both the ISU and Ped St rosters, so our site is not up to date.

Still on the roster late Friday. Obviously not to important at the AD to keep moves current.

According to what is going rate around the country, buyouts are a much higher percentage than that. Just off the top of my head at that rate, Campbells buyout should have been in the $3-4M range. That is still really low. Hell Rogers buyout was 4M and he was making a fraction of what Campbell was. I believe about $1.5M per year for about the same length of time.

Fact of the matter is, the $2M buyout was a complete joke. When you look at the rest of the country, and what other coaches buyouts are. I get it we had nothing to bargain with, but then if that is the case we might as well expect this BS to continue, as we continue to be the school with nothing to give. If we cant figure out how to even be on the same level as those in the Big12 as far as contracts and compensation we are going to be in trouble let alone those in the B1G and SEC.

Strength and conditioning with a complete traing staff is ESSENTIAL! CMC had changed it up a few times recently trying to find the best fit…. But, the injuries the last 2 years suggest something was off.
Idk what practice was like but i think it was reported on here that it was always pretty physical. That’s good and all, but who knows if it contributed to any of the injury issues??

Has any thought been given that perhaps Heacock doesn't want to leave? If the man is near retirements anyway, as many believe he is, maybe he wants to hang around Ames for a bit longer instead of moving now and moving again in a year or so. He may be too old for that. Just a thought.

How is 10% of $70 Million less than $3-4 million?

And please keep it under 200 words.

Thank you in advance!

Wut?

I was talking about Campbells buyout at ISU. Not sure what you are talking about.

Campbell ISU buyout 2m, salary 5m+ per year for 8yrs ish
Rogers WSU buyout 4m, salary 1.5m per year for 6 yrs.

As far as I have heard Campbells buyout at PSU is $71M.

Point being $2m buyout that Campbell had here, was a joke.

Please re-read.

College coaches buyoyts should be directly proportional to their new gig’s value.

Therefore Campbell’s total compensation at Pedo State is $70M the buyout should be 10% of that. $7M

So when Rich suitors come calling, they pay what the coach is worth to them.

Not a set flat Fee.

please re read the post you originally responded to, I was saying his buyout here was too low. And in todays world these buyouts in many places are going for far more than 5-10% of contract.

Is Pedo st total comp 70M? I read it was more than that, but the guaranteed part is 71M? Frankly I havent read that much because anything about him now makes me want to puke.

Injuries the last few years are from the new field at Jack trice and the training facility. It sounded good in theory, but it wasn’t. But at least we maintain it better than Dublin with the same type of field.
