No Bowl Game — Iowa State Turns Down Bowl Bid

….We’ve always said that there’s a small handful of schools that Campbell would leave for - based on where he’s from and where his family still lives. Based on what Jamie said, and I understand many won’t believe him, Matt told him that counteroffering wouldn’t matter….
JP and Campbell both knew there was no money at ISU to counter with. There is no way JP could have swung anything close $80+ million.
With the status of NIL Campbell knew it would only get tougher to compete with the TT and BYUs of the world and decided now was the time to jump.

Pollard is an absolute moron!! PSU paid ISU 2 million to buyout campbell. We’re paying Washington State 4 million to buy out this new guy. Now this 500k fine for blowing off the bowl. Were down 2.5 million in the exchange. However won’t think twice about raising ticket prices, general donations & NIL.. the fans agree to pay the price..
Do you really think that Jamie Pollard, someone who has always been described as cheap, wants to pay a half million dollar fine? If it was up to him, he would've forced them to play.

So after almost coming to my senses , we get hit with the no bowl game news. :curse:

I thought, dang, we won’t have any idea how good we’ll be until next September!

And that’s almost the same place we’d be if Matt were here.

Other than leaving I don't know what Campbell has to do with us not going to a bowl, but take this as an opportunity to not get personally attached to whoever the coach happens to be.

That would be good advice for the players as well, as hard as it may be. The school is the one paying tuition and NIL, not the coach.

So players voted to turn down the bowl game so they can stay healthy and spend the time to look at other schools. I understand the reasoning though as a fan not pleased. Did Penn State turn down a bowl game too?

Keep drinking the pollard koolaid. He could have appointed someone to coach the team for the bowl. It might have been all 2nd , 3rd stringers and walk ons that play, get beat 77-0 but at least it would be kids that care about the university & wanted to be here and not worry about their next paycheck.. people constantly want to make excuses for this clown..

Better position than what?

It’s hard to miss the two super conferences vs everyone else stratification of the sport. It sucks, but I didn’t think people were denying the reality.

We’ve always said that there’s a small handful of schools that Campbell would leave for - based on where he’s from and where his family still lives. Based on what Jamie said, and I understand many won’t believe him, Matt told him that counteroffering wouldn’t matter. He was going for personal/family reasons. Based on the jobs he’s turned down, there’s no reason not to believe that.

So yes we’re a second tier program. Everyone not in the Big Ten or SEC is. That’s just reality.
It won't be the last time we'll be reminded of that reality either.

They need to take the fine money out of the coaches AND players salaries. They'll probably just increase costs for the fans. Cambell just offer to pay it all himself. But he won't.

I really don't care if he succeeds in W/L column. I just want him to bring the "we're developing young men here, not trying to win football games" **** to the Pedos and see how that goes over. That is what I am going to enjoy hearing about.
Someone post his statement from 2021 that his goal is not to win the conference but to make each player the best version of themselves. He may not see the first game if that goes viral.

Sorry if already posted... I see the Rate Bowl (the one in Phoenix) is going to be Minny vs New Mexico... hahahaha!

New Mexico is not quite what that bowl was hoping for... I'm sure ISU or KSU would have been 100x better for them.

That would be good advice for the players as well, as hard as it may be. The school is the one paying tuition and NIL, not the coach.
The players at least have a personal connection to the coach, being recruited by them, playing for them, etc. the fans don't.

I know nobody cares... but I'm glad the players turned down a bowl.

This college football era we are in now is a total joke.... so I want complete chaos to happen. I wish every team that didn't make the playoff would turn down a bowl bid. Blow all this sh*t up and force them to start over.
