Assistant Coaches

IMO. Jimmy Rogers will bring in his own staff. They will be good. Tyler Mouser would not have been a good choice. The offense struggled. He got cute and would make some some really strange calls. It is apparent that Higgins and Noel covered up a lot of Rocco’s weaknesses. Mouser may eventually be a good head coach. But no way he is ready now. He is not really a good OC yet.

We don't know that they will be any good.

They were good at South Dakota State. They were good at WSU. They took a school with a completely decimated roster. Rebuilt it and made a bowl game first year. Sounds like Jimmy Rogers is a football version of TJ. Smart and young. The type of young coach that is an up and comer. Rogers is only 38 years old. IMO he will recruit and retain most of our roster. Long term we will be fine.

He has very little track record as a head coach.

He did have some close loses this year, but he wasn't exactly beating anyone with a pulse at Washington. That doesn't mean he can't do it, but let's not act like this was someone that any other school in our conference would want to hire.

Found it interesting that Pauley was retweeting Iowa State athletics stuff even yesterday. I wonder if Rogers would offer him like a CO-OC job to keep someone from the last staff on board. Obviously they would have crossed paths as MVC football coaches

And to think some wanted Mouser.

Rocco's biggest weaknesses were being injured by that cheap shot at Cincinnati and guys dropping passes. And with no kicker, we lost a lot of flexibility on offense. The offense was also put in a hole a lot of times because the defense wasn't very good - see Cincinnati.

Agreed. I think the appeal would be there would be a better chance to keep some players. Like maybe Brahmer or Burkle. But most likely Campbell would take the players he wanted no matter what.

Ask Texas A&M about Jimbo Fischer and get back to me on the importance of hiring a coach wanted at other schools

If we end up poaching a couple Northwestern coaches, I wonder if we can get Griffin Wilde. Was Northwesterns top WR and #7 WR in FCS while at SDSU. Followed SDSU staff to Northwestern when Rogers moved west.

I'd think an Eskildsen, Sowell, Wilde trio as WR's could be pretty nice.

The is an example for every circumstance. ;). This guy very well may work out, but it seems like the only thing that got him the job is that he met Jamie.

It's comparable to TJ except that TJ actually did know Jamie for years.

I read an article about how he was frustrated with the NIL at WSU. I bet he'll be thrilled with Jamie running the NIL show here.

True. I guess my point is let’s give Rogers a chance at this point. He could be a great hire, or he could turn out to be terrible. Nobody knows yet. But as fans all we can do is try to support the program

Rogers didn’t coach at Washington, he was at Washington State.
