agreed. It will be a much uglier game than today but we just Purdue to 58 on the road. There is no way hoks score 60 at Hilton. Lets go 78-56. Fairly anti-climactic after the show today.Zero worries
Really, if we defend like we did today, Iowa is in for a long, long day. We were giving Purdue almost nothing in the second half with our switching and help. It was really a work of art, put that on a defensive training tape. Maybe add it to Fran's lolTurn Toure loose on Stirtz and that game will be over quickly
Agree on Jefferson. Too many turnovers. But that makes it even all the more impressive with a 23 point win and him having a C+ game. Love that he’s hitting some threes tho cuz that opens his game up so much more. So much derpthNitpicking here but Josh’s turnovers were disturbing and he kept trying to slow penetrate into the low paint without success. Not his A game today. Fantastic overall team performance at both ends. Painter and boys were in shock. Hammer time for the Hawks which is one very good point guard and NWMSU/Drake undersized transfers. Probably be low scoring due to McCollum’s correct strategy.
Injuries definitely hurt but we were no where near as good defensively as this team is. Toure is a game changer and Buchanan and Pleta are far superior to Jackson and ChatmanWe were just as good last year until the injuries. Hopefully we are full strength going into March.
My recollection on that Drake loss in addition to the reasons you mentioned was that Mike Nurse was hit by a bus and out for that game. Had he played, we probably win that game and without that pre conference loss , may have ended up with a #1Correct. One of them double OT at OU (which was 3 seed in NCAAT). Other 1-OT in freaking Boulder, of course
Of course there was "The Drake Loss," but that has to be considered outlier, and early in season so maybe team hadn't gotten cohesion quite yet.
Other non-con loss was neutral MTE to then-#1 Cincinnati, and IIRC, ISU had at least one of the core roster members sidelined due to injury, not sure who(?).
I have said this before, but I do agree (so far.) In my years of following ISU MBB we've had two teams REALISTICALLY capable of winning a national title. This is going to be the 3rd.This is the best Cyclones basketball team I have ever laid eyes on.
I think this was the first game that Toure didn’t have a steal and dunk. He did have a steal and a finger roll lay in so l’ll allow itDid you watch that game? I may need to find it - since there isn’t another good ball handler, I could see us blitzing him at mid court to get the ball out of his hands and then denying him the rest of the possession.
Toure was awesome today on Smith, especially on high screens. I love that he picked his pocket once too, I think he’s done that at least once every game.
let it rideWhat do I do if it lasts longer than 4 hours?
Lipsey is playing so well and efficient I don't think soI know I'm in the minority but I feel like Toure might be a better player.
Their entire defense was planned round stopping him. It kind of worked, but we have too many ballers.Agree on Jefferson. Too many turnovers. But that makes it even all the more impressive with a 23 point win and him having a C+ game. Love that he’s hitting some threes tho cuz that opens his game up so much more. So much derpth![]()
