I honestly don't have words...

If not for a "blarge" that 1999-2000 team wins a national championship. That's the ceiling this or any future team has to break through, and until then that's still the best team.
Agree. That team was never rattled. Were men amongst boys it seemed at times. Their 2 losses in conference I believe were in OT. They never lost in regulation in conference play.

Let's compare rosters:

How will we replace gilbert? Amazingly toure is just better than gilbert at everything. It's shocking.

How will we replace curt? Improvements by milan, heise, Jefferson and the contributions from Nelson do an adequate job.

Lipsey is on another level. Buchanan is an upgrade.

This team is better than last year. We will lose some, but we are gonna be so hard to beat (impossible if we keep shooting like this).

I know I'm in the minority but I feel like Toure might be a better player.
I was high on Killyan last year and knew he'd play this year but it's what he's learned from Tamin in his short time at ISU that has him playing at this level cause Tamin has improved immensely since his freshman year. The on ball pressure is Killyan's but the offensive side he's really learned a thing or 2. When to attack and when not to, the drifting into a passing lane for a 3, where you can drive and dish. And Killyan has been an outstanding learner.

Not just minority but wrong. Toure has been incredible so far in his freshman year but Lipsey is one of the best in the country.
Now, but what about when he was a freshman. I think that's what they are comparing. And there so far has not been much of a drop off when he runs the show.

Correct. One of them double OT at OU (which was 3 seed in NCAAT). Other 1-OT in freaking Boulder, of course

Of course there was "The Drake Loss," but that has to be considered outlier, and early in season so maybe team hadn't gotten cohesion quite yet.

Other non-con loss was neutral MTE to then-#1 Cincinnati, and IIRC, ISU had at least one of the core roster members sidelined due to injury, not sure who(?).

They talked about us as Duke and Sparty go down to the wire. Some form of respect out there yet again.
But now we have to spend the season hearing and knowing that we have Final Four potential, again.
Bring it on. This team will welcome that challenge and expectations. The days of having the underdog chip on our shoulders is over. We are the big dog now!
