*** Official #10 IOWA STATE vs #1 Purdue Game(Day) Thread ***

And hour of postgame chores and I still can’t believe what I watched. That one will get saved to the DVR for when I am feeling down.

Did we almost beat them too badly? Will the narrative be that ISU was hit and Purdue played like ****? I feel like Duke is going to get more cred for going into Lansing and winning a squeaker.

Maybe it’s been said but I was liking what Nelson brought us in the first half when we got down just a bit. He was attacking the rim and getting some free throws. His game is going to be super beneficial in a few games this year.
I just watched the American Revolution documentary, so excuse my analogy.

He doesn't really seem to fit in with the team, but he reminds me of when a Commanding General allows a out of the box Colonel to go reek havoc on the flank. The enemy is like what is this?

Anyone know where I can rewatch the game? I got spoiled with ESPN+ carrying everything on demand and I forgot this was on CBS.

Purdue should have been ranked more like 5-6 going into the game and they’re not even #1 in their subpar league, let alone the entire country.

So in a way we gave the money obsessed sports media a reality check.

If someone had watched AZ and Michigan and said “yeah Purdue is the best team” they were smoking crack.

I'd guess someone already posted this in this thread or related threads, or perhaps even at end of CBS broadcast, but I encountered it just a few minutes ago (via EPSN):

Purdue's 23-point defeat is the largest non-conference home loss by a No. 1 team in AP poll history, according to ESPN Research, and is tied for the largest home loss ever by a No. 1 team.

He’s a good college player but no exaggerating that we’ve had MANY recent point guards with significantly more upside/NBA potential. Kane, Monte, Toure, Lipsey and obviously Halliburton all have the pure point guard goods more than that kid CBS was trying to sell us as “the best ever”.
I’ve had to endure weeks of texts from Pur Doos about how great Braden Smith is.

I reply, “yeah but Tamin Lipsey”

Crickets.

I need better friends.

I love how for a lot of the game, you could hear a pin drop in that arena (although it was more like the volume of dropping a railroad spike).
Painter ****** up not calling a timeout when we stretched it to 9. It was 15 before you knew it and you could tell it was over. Crowd was dead. Players looked like they saw a ghost.

Like Painter said postgame - we took their spirit.

Duke is legit and has some nice wins. I am fine with our profile right now. Lots of positive publicity but not drooling over us incessantly

Duke could eat a sandwich and chips and jump 3 spots.

Purdue has some good wins including a win at Alabama and a 30 point win against Tech. Michigan had a great run in the Vegas tournament, but they had some less impressive wins early.

He is really a key player. Brings energy and aggressiveness immediately.

I love Nelson’s aggressiveness and fearlessness. He will make mistakes that drive us crazy but the dude is relentless. TJ will use him in exactly the right moments as he will with Batemon when maybe three point shooting is needed more. If everyone on the team is all bought in this team can be special
