*** Official #10 IOWA STATE vs #1 Purdue Game(Day) Thread ***

This may sound dumb but I think the next big step is Pleta getting better on the boards. He’s really good at getting one hand on the ball. Against these bigger teams we may need him on the boards
Exactly this. While Iowa State has been playing great team basketball this season, there is still room for growth. And that makes this season even more exciting

You can certainly take it a scrimmage as foreshadowing to a degree. Buchanan was obviously very much here for defense. He was a career 48 percent shooter before this year and was primarily a 5 ft from the bucket scorer. He’s shooting almost 68 percent this year. No one could have predicted that.

Well in the past ISU has lost secret scrimmages and ISU in a televised exhibition didn't look very good so I'll continue to not take is as meaning much in the long run.

I take the same approach with about any game since things can change so fast and a game that doesn't even count is even less impactful or telling.

Maybe it’s been said but I was liking what Nelson brought us in the first half when we got down just a bit. He was attacking the rim and getting some free throws. His game is going to be super beneficial in a few games this year.

Great point, this was his best game and his good plays easily outweighed the one out of control play.

He's a great scoring-slump-buster in that regard. The worry is he's in theory easy to defend (pack the lane and make him shoot) but he's low enough on the depth chart and we have enough good shooters that I'm not sure how effective even that will be.

Was listening on the radio in the first half snd was great hearing him draw a foul after Purdue got up 5-6 and had some momentum.

Was an incredible game and effort by this team. Milan looked awesome. I thought Blake Buchanan really looked good. I’m so happy to see his development this far. He did a lot of little things today like getting much needed rebounds on the offensive glass. He also played great defense.
