Just to be clear, IMO Campbell is not moving because of money. Like I said, people tend to switch jobs for personal growth. Money can be one of those reasons.

But more likely, after 10 years he might be looking for a new challenge. The longest I was with a single employer was just under 10 years and in that span different jobs.

I remember starting to feel like I wanted Fred to leave only because of the constant speculation...and when it was announced it was almost a relief! It does get tiring...but I really didn't want MC to leave! Fred seemed like he knew what he was doing the entire time here...looking for a different opportunity. MC...I don't know...I don't feel like he was seeking these things out like it felt Fred was...??

I am not an insider at all...just speaking from afar as a fan.

Matt did great here obviously and can do whatever he feels is best for him.

I will say though…. if he was telling players as they committed on Weds a bunch of BS when he knew he was looking at PSU…. I could NEVER do that to those kids.

Lot of lip service from CMC all these years.

But wasn't BYU coach the guy until Monday or Tuesday?

My guess is this courtship has happened very fast. He's the ISU FB coach until he isn't. So he's getting paid by ISU to bring in a solid recruiting class.

If this was 5 years ago, I might agree that he was doing the recruits a big injustice. But with the portal, they are free agents.

Understand, it's a tough reality for an 18 year old.

We can be very thankful and very pissed. I'm not sure why it has to be one or the other.

I'm thankful we had 10 really, really great years. I loved Iowa State football.

But I am ******* pissed that it is over. It ******* sucks. I get a lot of joy out of Iowa State sports and I won't get that joy.

Says who? I don't really understand the thought that we're now guaranteed to fail. Likely next year depending who leaves with him, but why the hell can't the next coach succeed (& maybe even get to the next level)? I get acting defeatist is kind of a Cyclone thing, but this isn't the 80's anymore. Thanks to this man, ISU football isn't a nobody.

I'm choosing to remain optimistic.
