Matt Campbell to Penn State??

Amazing how much undeserved negativity Hoiberg gets. He grew up in Ames, went to ISU as a player, coached ISU, and got us out of many years of sucking. Nicknamed him after the town. All this negativity because he went to a nearby college, a college in another conference and a college we rarely cross paths with on the recruiting trail.
I feel no negativity towards him, but ISU BB is in a better place now. Will the same happen with FB?

This feels like moving back into your parents house. We were able to live on our own, have a job, etc and now we'll likely be moving back to our parents B12 basement where we've lived for most of our B12 existence.

The craziest part where this hits home has been some of these Sundays where NFL teams are just loaded with tons of Cyclones in key starting roles.

Then thinking back to how we basically just had a couple backup QBs for a long time and a few seasons with basically no pros.

That doesn't sound like Campbell at all. Maybe we need to tap the brakes a bit on the media forecasting here.
My heart and head agree with you.

My whatever it is that is considered the metaphorical locus of humor is actually enjoying the meltdown.

It’s possible we don’t field a team for the bowl game.
The portal doesn't open until after our bowl game. And I'm sure there will be Assistant Coaches who will stay around until after the Bowl game.

Plus the player NIL/House money contracts hopefully have a clause requiring they playin the Bowl.

The defections will probably impact the 20 recruits more than existing roster over the next 25 days.

And hopefully Jamie can hire coach in less than 7 days to stabilize existing roster.

What pisses me off the most, is that we lowered his buyout to $2m last year.

Why in the hell did we do that? If he had a big buyout, It would not have prevented him leaving, but sure in hell would have given us a huge leg up on money for a new coach.

$2M might as well be nothing at this point.

Hey, maybe CMC can lobby for us and the Big 12 in the Cody Campbell plan. Going to be disappointed if he becomes a parrot for Petitti like some of the other Big 10 coaches did arguing for automatic berths and the ridiculous 28 teams for the CFP.

Just for fun, put on your tinfoil hats and let's assume CMC DOESNT take the PSU job. Why all the smoke from the PSU side to the media?

Negotiating cheaper deal with the PSU interim guy?
Trying to make PSU fanbase less unhappy about interim guy since CMC isn't exactly a Saban-level hire?
Creating negotiating leverage for a 3rd mystery candidate they want cheap?

That seems like who would be CMCs first to tell after he made the decision.

Does it feel like these media people are running with a rumor that one of them started. Like they all are repeating On3, and repeating and repeating. Hell our local guys, are also just repeating this first post that was posted by On3.

Do we know this is for sure? It seems really weird that the players are in the dark. I dont doubt it being real, just that the media is not exactly trustworthy.
If he did travel there to interview and ended up accepting the job, he couldn't exactly teleport back to campus to inform his players, so he would have had to trust the Penn State people not to blabber it everywhere for the next 8 hours or so, as I guarantee that he'd want to tell them himself. Hopefully that pisses him off and he changes his mind (insert optimistic emoji rating here)

What leverage did Jamie have, exactly?
