That early timeout. Coach of the year type move there.
I gotta give Alcorn State credit. They got 40 minutes of their style of play against an elite opponent. That will help them in the SWAC. They could have taken the air out of the ball and maybe lost by 30 or 40 but that would have given them nothing to learn from for the future.
Probably threatened them with practice if they didn’t have the proper amount of intensity.

It's pretty rare to see that type of effort by a great team when playing a bad team. Thus the score.
And they showed a lot of spark defensively. I know that is crazy to say when you opponent shoots over 70% and scores well north of 100, but they disrupted our guards and clogged passing lanes getting steals and causing turnovers against a team that generally takes care of the ball. I think JJeff had to play a little more than we would like because TJ wanted him to take some pressure off of guards replacing Tamin.
TJ was coaching the Purdue and Iowa games as much as anything IMHO. If they come out like they did in this game it could be 20-0 Purdue before the first media time out. TJ heading that off at the pass.
That was a terrible timeout timing wise. Should’ve called it when we started our run.
