ISU Bowl Projection

I have no issue with ISU playing @ Orlando. Sheesh, the previous three opponents have been Notre Dame, Clemson and Miami (Fla.). Nothing wrong with location or opponent! Doesn't hurt the Florida recruiting either.
I don't really get the Orlando hate by some of our fans....I definitely like to switch up bowl game locations but Orlando has so much to do outside of just the game....and you're an hour from the ocean if you want that too.

When my family went in 2019, we stayed on the Atlantic side and then traveled to Orlando really only for the pep rally and the game itself.....but it was nice coming back to a relaxing ocean after getting our butts kicked lol.

I've always hated the bowl tie ins but with the new playoff format and todays landscape they need to go away. Get the best matchups you can, it's the only way to salvage any of the bowl relevancy.

Conference bowl tie ins should not be a thing in this current landscape. Variety, new destinations, matchups, and different opponents should’ve the priority.

The existing system is stale as hell.

The problem is how do you determine selection order for non-cfp bowls? Lottery? Not all bowls are created equal, I think we can all agree an Alamo bowl is not the same as a Music city bowl, so should there be a world where the music city bowl selects teams ahead of the Alamo bowl?

Do you make the committee rank all bowl eligible teams and assign the games? How do you eliminate the bias in that system when the committee members are usually affiliated with a university in some way?

I think about the only way to do it would be to have all bowl games be available outside the cfp, then have the committee rank the teams, then the teams go down the list in ranked order and select what bowl game they want.

Money. Highest bowl payout gets the highest pick. That's basically how it works now within the conference tie-in system anyway.

Can someone explain this thought process to me? We didnt play in our first bowl until 2000, and now we can be picky choosy?

@Nor'MidWester not sure if youre joking or not, but ive heard this same sentiment from others, and it confuses the hell out of me

Correction - We didn't WIN our first bowl game until 2000

I wonder if this would, or already has elimated the weed eater mayonnaise bowls. Not sure how attractive the NIT bowls are going to be going forward but money being a factor would presumably create good matchups and reward fan bases that travel well like us.

Is it unusual to be this confident about our bowl destination with two games yet to play?

That game was always a nightmare for teams that played in it. Trying to get passports for kids that didn't have them on short notice, the stadium always seemed to be in just awful shape and there were security issues at hotels at times.

Good riddance.

Making sure 12-15 basketball players have passports is not all that difficult. Getting passports for 100 kids would be a nightmare. They managed it for the game in Ireland, but they had plenty of lead time. Short notice would be next to impossible for that many.
I speak from experience - 2 of the granddaughters that have traveled with us were procrastinators. I was pulling my hair out trying to get them to apply in a timely manner.

Too bad we can't go to the Beans Bowl:

Seems like several bowls are going the goofy, quirky route to make the bowl more recognizable, fun, etc.
Pop tarts
Duke Mayo
Bush's Beans

Are all leaning on the goofiness and doing funny things to promote the bowl.

You'd think there would be an exception or and expedited process for something like this.
