Any TV Experts Out There?

As stated earlier, you’ll struggle to find a 120 Hz signal for sports. By the time it is available, there will be new generations of TVs. Focus on the color quality. In a dark room, getting true blacks from OLED makes a difference. In a bright room, the difference is negligible IMO.

If you end up with a cheaper model, just get yourself a separate streaming box and it’ll be fine. Personally, I don’t like any of the manufacturers menus anyways even if they have the power to not be laggy. I like the Apple TV to make switching between apps smooth to jump between TNF and CFB without closing and opening the apps.
I had a Vizio die on me once, but my current Vizio's internal streaming apps are far and away more responsive than a 4K Fire TV stick, which I find surprising.

Obviously not a top tier TV, maybe not even mid-tier, but price makes it tempting for the size.
If you have a big enough room it'd be cool, although not really a good tv, 98" is just massive. I have an 85" and that would be almost a foot wider, which is nuts because I got my tv home and was like wtf did I do, it doesn't look as imposing in the store.

Yea, definitely no room in the basement for something that big. After I’m done with errands I’ll take a look at the 75-85” options and go from there.

I could fit the 98” in the living room, but the wife shutdown that idea as soon as the words left my mouth. I guess she doesn’t have her priorities set straight yet.

I have an LG OLED tv and I absolutely love it. I went into best buy and asked the manager if he was gonna buy a tv for his house, price doesn't matter, which one is he buying and he said lg oled.

yes the refresh rate does effect the quality of picture for sports. 120hz is noticeable improvement vs 60 hz rate.

Given @3TrueFans feedback on streaming being mostly 60fps… then the right move may be a 60hz TV for one of the models above.
another factor to consider is connecting an old school antenna to the TV? I have that for any broadcast game as there is minimal delay in action vs streaming always being at least 20-30 seconds behind.

LG service freaking sucks though, had an issue during warranty period with our one LG and they had one guy who handled repairs in the area (NE Iowa) at the time, when I picked up the TV from him he said I was the last LG customer he would be doing as the company gives zero help and is slow to respond.

Rookie move. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I'm still getting some heat at home over the size of my new speakers, but I'm hoping it cools down after another week.

Thanks everyone for the input. Not sure I will spend as much as the OLED models cost, but maybe their quality will surprise me when I see them. Right now I plan on going to the store to look at the two models below. Intention is to buy the cheaper Hisense unless the TCL seems worth the extra cost once I put eyes on it (75" for both options).

That is insanely large - can't imagine many standard home interior spaces where that would make any sense

Honestly I’ll be getting a 100” TV soon. But I have kind of a theater setup

For as big as the room would need to be to make that size seem reasonable, you may need to get IR repeaters for your remotes.

If so I’d just use the smart remote on my phone. I have a screen/projector now and I hate those IR remotes.

I have purchased many TV's over the years and never used the built in Smart functions. I figure if the TV quality is good but the LG smart functions suck, I can solve that problem with a <$100 Roku. And then the interface is the same on all your TVs.

My biggest ***** about A/V stuff in 2025 is the Harmony remotes going away. There are other options and my Harmony remotes are still going strong. But that's another thread . . .

I hear you on the Harmony concern and lack of a viable replacement. For most users with just a TV and a streaming box it is no big deal. But for a more complex setup it is still hard to beat a Harmony.

Streaming box remotes have gotten better with the addition of TV power and volume, but they are not perfect. I still have 1 Harmony that I use with the Apple TV box, but the Chromecasts using Bluetooth became an issue, so I had to switch away.

Not sure why Harmony decided to go away from their remote controls, I love the couple we have had. Once they are set up and tuned in, nothing better to switch from one format to another.
