*** Official Grambling State vs #16 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Grambling is better than I thought they'd be. They are an older team full of transfers and they're very well coached. I love that they're hitting us with zone defenses and presses. It's exactly what we need to be seeing early in the season.

Monday and tonight we're letting a lot of back cuts happen to the rim.
Can't let that happen with B12 capable bigs who could throw it down.
Just happened again.
We're lucky theyre missing all of these.

Buchanan has had a few better moments.

Hopefully he can win us over like Bob Jones did. He took a lot of heat on offense too for a long time, justifiably so.

If Buchanan can just camp out around the rim and make 4-5 putbacks and get 8-10 rebounds, that would be a huge win. We’ve missed so many shots at the rim in the past few years, maybe he can elevate that for the team.

For those wondering, Darrin Hansen had 9 "No Doubts" in the first half. Nice effort outta him. He also sprinkled in 3 "Johnny on the spots" which is already a season high.
Just get the Varsity app… its free and you can listen to the Cylone broadcast with John and Eric. Easy to sync to the stream as well.

Yes I like that idea. He moves really well for his size in general too. I can see what otz is seeing there for sure.

I thought we were missing that last yr with Jackson, after Ward and Jones and King...

our front court was good but a little too deliberate and a half step slow last yr IMO. For how we like to play in our system at least.

That drive from Tamin was just so good, and then the effort defending the inbound after? If the team can channel that, the ceiling is high.

Grambling staff has been riding refs a lot.
Look for a tech at some point.
Just yelled at his bench to clap for a teammate that got a foul. Then they all did kind of sarcastically.
