YouTube TV Getting Ability to Split Into 4 Screens

Agreed. I think this is all part of Disneys plan to get people to sign up for Hulu or their ESPN Unlimited subscription.

As I said earlier, I expect this to go to the courts. The practice of content creators becoming providers creates a large conflict of interest and shouldn’t be allowed from an anti-trust perspective. I wonder if Google will decide now is the time to litigate that. It’s only going to get worse as content providers move their content from their typical linear channels to their streaming platforms.

If that is the case, time to pause my subscription and jump to another service. The whole point of YTTV for me is aggregating all the football games on the linear channels within one app. Can't do that without ABC or the ESPN family.
As others said that's what they want. They want you to go to hulu or fubo more specifically. I'd like to stay with YTTV but Espn is kind of a deal breaker come winter. A lot of Postseason in College/NFL and then college basketball. Going to try to hold for now but not sure how long I'll last

I expect to go back once this is settled. It’s too convenient to have everything under one app.

You mentioned this going to court. How do you see it going from there or this ending?

I’m not sure. Fubo successfully stopped the first attempt of ESPN and Fox to create a sports only streaming service. I don’t know if you can put the toothpaste back in the tube at this point, so I don’t expect that the direct streaming services will be stopped. But they may force a separation of divisions with a more transparent pricing between what those content providers are paying internally vs what they are selling to streaming platforms?

I thought I read Disney owns the majority of Fubo. I know Hulu for sure but thought they owned another major streamer, is that incorrect?

That was the result of the lawsuit. Disney agreed to acquire of majority stake in Fubo as part of the settlement.

Oh for sure, and I'm not playing into that. I think DirecTV stream or Sling will do the trick in the interim.

If YTTV can pull off this rumored lighter, sports focused package for half the cost of their current service, I'll be all over that. But can certainly see why Disney would want to fight it.

The Hulu package sounds good, but I’m not rewarding Disney for this BS.

The Sling one day pass sounds appealing for the Miss State game. Still have an ESPN+ sub through end of year, and can still watch the Vegas, Purdue and Iowa games on YTTV.

Nobody in our house watches normal TV anymore. I can pretty safely say the only shows that have been watched on our YouTube TV in the last couple years are sports and Maine Cabin Masters. If this ruins the last of the F1 races this season I'm going to be legitimately pissed. I really don't want to end up paying for F1TV too. We have enough subscriptions.

Love me some Maine Cabin Masters

I'm lucky big ten games on espn are limited to road and postseason events. Iowa doesn't have any. I still watch a lot of other games though. Big 12, Acc, SEC etc... I hope SEC games this past weekend and MNF see noticeable ratings drop. That might pressure with help of their advertisers into Disney relenting a little bit in negotiations but I'm not sure on impact.

Yeah I’ll be fine not watching MNF this week. If it were my team I’d just do the 5 bucks for Sling day pass.

I was just looking at that. Can you do that as many times as you want or do you have to commit longer after certain period?
