It’s highly regarded and rightfully so, but my goodness The Descent is still balls out terrifying. So great.
Just watched When Evil Lurks, really good demon/possession movie.

Hill House is so great. And I know many weren’t fans of Bly Manor but we actually loved it.
I really love "X" and I think lesser known "The House of the Devil" from same director is actually better than Pearl and Maxxxine that followed up X.
I liked Bly Manor quite a bit, can’t remember the name but the only one of Flanagan’s on Netflix I didn’t like was the one with the teens in a haunted mansion, just fell off it pretty quickly. Might have to give it another shot sometime.
I love Trick 'r Treat (2007). I'm not gonna say it's a terrifying movie by any means, but it's a fun horror anthology movie for Halloween. It's great starter level horror movie
This movie is discussed in another thread and is more thriller than horror, but it is really good.
Just to add to the horror, it came out on tax day, April 15th.
I need to check out The House of the Devil. I really enjoyed the X series. For some reason Pearl just hits as my favorite of the series, not necessarily what I'm looking for when I want a horror/thriller movie, but really enjoyed his use of that technicolor. It was cool to see the juxtaposition of a Wizard of Oz type movie with a Hitchcockian psycho main character.
I love the visuals of Pearl but the story didn't give me as much to think about. I actually think "X" is probably the more interesting movie I've seen in the past decade in terms of how it handles a lot of social issues in a subtle way. MaXXXine was kind of disaappoitning to me but maybe my hopes were too high. I still really like all three.
If it wasn't a "trilogy" and House of Devil had some of the same actors you'd think House of the Devil was more connected to X than Maxxxine for sure.
Watched this alone in my dark basement a while ago. Not only did I jump multiple times, but had that general uneasy feeling for most of the movie.
The Descent 2 isn’t as good, but still same general feeling throughout.
I may be in the minority but I'm not a fan of Ti West movies, or of Mia Goth. I don't even really know exactly why. To me his movies and her performances just come off as "Look at how cool and dark and edgy we are" and to me it all seems kind of contrived. But I'm no expert.
I am not a horror guy at all really, but gf loves the Devil's Rejects trilogy.
