Tis the season for horror/thriller movie.

We have seen this before, but we just watched Green Room again. I forgot how ******* terrifying that movie is. Because I can see **** like that happening. It’s far too believable all the way around. Not a typical Halloween type movie but horror all the same.

Those are the kinds of horror/thrillers I prefer.

Here are some recent horrors that I think were pretty good:

These are two I always recommend to people because not many have seen them. Not sure you can find HUSH anymore on Netflix but I think you can find the full movie on YouTube but the quality is meh. The Invitation is crazy good.

Anybody remember the 1974 TV movie Bad Ronald? Totally creepy. I couldn't find a clip without a bunch of spoilers. Explore at your own risk.

Not a movie, but a visual novel and later anime series - Higurashi no naku koro ni, aka Higurashi - When They Cry or When They Cry.

Basically about the lives of six children living in a small town in Japan and how every year for the last several years, following Watanagashi Matsuri (the Cotton-Drifting Festival), one person ends up dead and another missing... which also happens in the current year, but in a strange twist, several days later one of the six kids goes crazy and goes on a murdering rampage, killing members of the friend group and others in the town... until days after that the entire town ends up dead due to an eruption of "volcanic gas". It's a looping story, so the murderer and events change through each loop.

And at times it's also one of the more disturbing stories I've ever watched.

Grave encounters is one of my all time favorite horror movies. I don’t see it mentioned as much when people list of their top horror movies, which makes me think not enough people have watched it.

Grave encounters 2 is good too but with a twist to it. Highly recommend both.

I’m into classics. So, anything Hitchcock is a must see. Birds is a good starting point. Two other favs? The Creature from the Black Lagoon and The Abominable Dr Phibes.

I'm not a big horror fan, but the ones I do like are typically campy and dumb. So with that in mind one I always liked is Demon Knight. I loved Tales From the Crypt and this was a good full length movie from that show.

The Crazies is really underrated. I picked it out on Netflix many years ago because I was in the mood to watch a bad horror movie and it turned out to be really good.

I know it probably isn't considered scary now, but "Prince of Darkness" was the only horror film I saw that cleared the theatre. It wasn't you typical slasher movie and outside of The Exorcist and Damion there weren't that many of these type of horror movies back then. And it had a completely different take on a 60' screen in a dark theatre than a big screen TV at your home.
